Application Security Analyst (AI Training)

About The Role

Your security instincts were built in the trenches — reviewing code, hunting vulnerabilities, and making judgment calls that protect real systems. Now put that expertise to work on one of the most exciting challenges in tech: teaching AI to think like a security engineer.

At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build and train frontier AI models. We're looking for application security professionals who understand how software actually breaks in production — and can translate that knowledge into structured, high-quality reasoning that helps AI systems learn to assess, prioritize, and remediate risk.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Analyze realistic application security scenarios spanning code, APIs, and system behavior
  • Classify vulnerabilities including authentication flaws, injection risks, access control issues, and business logic bugs
  • Evaluate secure coding practices and assess the quality of proposed remediation strategies
  • Create and validate security-focused reasoning datasets that teach AI how to think accurately about application risk
  • Distinguish genuine exploitability from theoretical or low-impact findings with clear, structured written reasoning

Who You Are

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in application, product, or software security
  • Solid familiarity with the OWASP Top 10 and common production vulnerabilities
  • Able to think critically about real-world exploitability — not just textbook definitions
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain security reasoning clearly and systematically
  • Comfortable working independently and asynchronously on task-based assignments

Nice to Have

  • Experience with secure code review, penetration testing, or bug bounty programs
  • Familiarity with web frameworks, API security, or cloud-native application risks
  • Background in writing security documentation, threat models, or remediation guidance

Why Join Us

  • Work directly on cutting-edge AI projects with top research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule
  • Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
  • Make a meaningful impact on how AI understands and reasons about cybersecurity
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
