Python Engineer

Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Python Engineer to join our growing technology organization. This individual will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling the firm’s backend systems and cloud infrastructure supporting both internal platforms and customer-facing applications. The ideal candidate has deep experience building secure, distributed systems within AWS environments and thrives in high-performance engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
• Contribute to architectural direction and help evolve the firm’s backend infrastructure for scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability
• Build and support platform services, authentication/account systems, and core application infrastructure
• Develop and maintain cloud-native data infrastructure leveraging AWS services such as S3, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, and Redshift
• Architect and implement serverless and event-driven systems using technologies including Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, API Gateway, and related AWS services
• Improve system resiliency, observability, fault tolerance, and production reliability across core platforms
• Automate operational processes and improve engineering workflows across the organization
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, performance bottlenecks, and distributed systems challenges
• Stay current with modern Python development practices, AWS technologies, and cloud engineering best practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 7+ years of experience in backend engineering, cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems engineering
• Strong Python expertise, including modern Python features and asynchronous programming concepts
• Deep experience building and operating systems within AWS cloud environments
• Experience working with large-scale datasets and data processing frameworks such as Pandas, PyArrow, Polars, or similar technologies
• Strong understanding of event-driven architectures, distributed systems, messaging frameworks, and orchestration patterns
• Experience working in Linux-based environments with strong scripting and systems knowledge
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation and modern CI/CD pipelines
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams

Preferred Experience

• Experience building highly available, low-latency distributed systems
• Exposure to cloud-native observability and monitoring tools
• Background working in financial services, trading, or data-intensive environments is a plus
