About the Role

This position is ideal for someone with a deep grounding in software engineering who can take ownership of designing and delivering interconnected systems that streamline how the wider organisation operates. You will use your experience building applications, services, and distributed systems to spot opportunities for modernisation and lead their execution from concept through to deployment.

The focus is on transforming inefficient, manual ways of working into cohesive, largely self-operating solutions. You’ll apply your knowledge of system design, service communication, and cloud-native tooling to create resilient, extensible platforms that support better use of data and reduce reliance on repetitive tasks.

Facing off to the business you will stand over your technical knowhow and deliver concise plans for better system usage and use the wider technical team to deliver a strong digital tool stack.

Alongside hands-on technical contribution, you will guide initiatives with a structured and outcome-driven approach, ensuring that what is delivered provides clear operational value and fits within broader organisational direction, architectural principles, and governance expectations.

Responsibilities

Engineering Delivery

• Design and deliver scalable, service-based solutions to address operational challenges using modern development practices and cloud technologies.
• Identify opportunities to simplify systems and automate workflows through technical analysis and data insights.
• Lead delivery from concept to production, replacing manual processes with reliable, integrated software solutions.
• Track impact using performance metrics, system telemetry, and operational data.

System Design & Automation

• Redesign workflows as efficient, scalable systems using strong architectural and modelling principles.
• Implement automation through APIs, event-driven patterns, and service orchestration.
• Promote shared platforms and reusable components to reduce duplication and improve interoperability.

Technical Collaboration

• Translate business needs into well-structured technical solutions supported by prototypes and design artefacts.
• Lead workshops and technical discussions to align on priorities and approaches.
• Communicate designs, progress, and outcomes through clear documentation and data-driven reporting.

Qualifications

• Degree in computing or related discipline, or equivalent hands-on engineering experience.
• Extensive background delivering complex software or systems initiatives.
• Certifications in engineering practices, delivery methods, or cloud technologies are beneficial.

• Proven experience building and delivering integrated platforms at enterprise level.
• Strong foundation in system design, workflow optimisation, and engineering-led automation.
• Demonstrated impact improving efficiency through scalable architectures, integrations, and platform consolidation.
• Experience working with enterprise systems, service integrations, and data flows, with attention to usability and design.
• Effective communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating requirements into practical solutions.
• Experience operating within large-scale or multi-entity technology environments, with awareness of architectural patterns.
