Software Engineer

Join a forward-thinking Agile Scrum team at the cutting edge of Geospatial software development, leveraging cloud-native architectures to solve complex global challenges. You will be instrumental in building high-performance, scalable Java applications within a modern DevSecOps ecosystem.

The Role

• Develop high-quality, scalable code using Java and Cloud Services within a collaborative Agile Scrum environment.
• Lead the creation of reusable patterns and innovative software solutions to accelerate team velocity and product delivery.
• Conduct rigorous design and code reviews focusing on unit testing, security, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
• Implement automated testing and contribute to a robust DevSecOps pipeline involving Tekton, ArgoCD, and SonarQube.
• Work closely with the Scrum team to meet sprint commitments and contribute to technical estimation and sprint planning.

• Expert proficiency in Java development and building scalable Cloud Services.
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift.
• Strong understanding of modern frameworks like Quarkus and Front-end development experience with Angular.
• Proven experience in Unit Testing and automated quality assurance practices.
• Valid UK Security Clearance (SC) is required before starting; active SC on application is highly preferred (UK Eyes Only project).

• Competitive rate of £70 - £84 per hour (Umbrella, inside IR35).
• 12-month contract with the potential for long-term project involvement.
• Flexible hybrid working model based in professional tech hubs in Guildford or Newcastle.
