AI Engineer - Senior Software Engineer — JVM / Platform

Your Role's Mission

Build the foundations of our platform from scratch — solving genuinely hard problems in planning algorithms, distributed systems and agentic capabilities, and turning them into elegant products that ship every day.

Your Impact

• Own systems end-to-end — design, ship, operate, on-call.
• Tackle real algorithmic and systems challenges: operational research, value-engineering, agentic workflows. No off-the-shelf answers.
• Ship to production daily inside a 3–4 person squad. PRs merge same-day. No staging gauntlet, no committees, no waterfall.
• Build the horizontal platform from the ground up — no legacy debt, no spaghetti to maintain.
• Set the technical bar for code taste, systems thinking and engineering rigor as the team scales.
• Contribution to our AI-native transformation as a company

• 5–12 years building production software at companies that ship enterprise products (B2B SaaS, infrastructure, financial systems, large-scale platforms).
• Strong on JVM in production — Java 17+ or Kotlin.
• Solid foundations in distributed systems, async messaging, SQL, observability.
• Zero-to-one builder: you've owned a system from design to operations, not just contributed PRs.
• Self-directed: ambiguous problem in, working prototype out — without a clarification ticket.
• Uses AI tools as a force multiplier for shipping.
• AI as a daily tool (Claude, Cursor, etc.)
• AI performance mindset (identify, automate, measure)
• Based in France with the right to work. Remote-friendly; hybrid available if you're near a hub.

• Recruiter screen — 30 min. Mission fit, motivation, comp alignment.
• Hiring manager call — 45 min. Deep dive on one past project of your choosing. We want the on-call story, the rollback, the customer call — not just the merge.
• Take-home (4h async, preferred) or live pair (90 min). Realistic problem. We look at working solution, trade-off reasoning, code cleanliness.
• Virtual loop — half day, 4 sessions. System design (deliberately under-specified), code review exercise, behavioral, team meet & values.
