This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Auckland or Wellington. This is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?

  • Deliver customer-facing improvements end to end: clarify the problem, break work into milestones, implement changes, and release safely.
  • Make pragmatic design choices day to day: weigh short-term delivery needs against long-term maintainability, scalability, and operational impact.
  • Solve ambiguous problems: shape requirements with product and peers, propose options, and guide trade-offs through to an agreed approach.
  • Protect reliability and quality: participate in production support, investigate issues, and follow through with fixes and preventative improvements.
  • Lift the team: collaborate closely across disciplines, provide thoughtful code reviews and mentoring, and share knowledge to keep standards high.

What is the tīma culture and environment like?

Join a vibrant tīma of highly skilled professionals united in their passion for innovation and collaboration. This tīma fosters creative, supportive atmospheres where teamwork and creativity thrive.

The tīma is a mix of some of our most skilled and experienced senior developers and testers as well as some highly talented and driven juniors. It’s an exciting chance to learn from the best and also bring your own experience to mentor our up-and-comers!

What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?

The work you do will depend on the team you join, supporting capabilities ranging from International Payments, Card Controls, Card Security, and Documents & Statements to Home Lending across mobile and web applications.

Across the year, the focus is a mix of delivering new customer-facing features, improving and modernising existing journeys, and strengthening the reliability and overall quality of the services we run in production.

What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?

You will have the opportunity to work on projects that affects the life of millions of people in a positive way and be part of a modern department at the bank. We are doing work on current technology, including modernisation of our applications and Artificial Intelligence use.
