Senior Tax Accountant
Indexed description
I am looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join a publicly traded company headquartered in the greater Nashville, TN area — specifically in a growing, high-performing corporate tax team within a lean, collaborative corporate finance department.
Why this role?
- Join a nationally recognized manufacturer with a decades-long track record of quality and innovation, currently delivering record financial performance and entering a significant new phase of federal tax compliance
- Small corporate tax team — your work is visible, impactful, and spans federal compliance, multi-state filings, audit support, and tax provision
- Direct day-to-day mentorship from the Senior Manager of Tax
- Rare exposure across the full income tax lifecycle at a publicly traded company — federal, state, provision, audit, and planning — all in one seat
- High-performers are recognized at the executive level and have genuine paths to advancement
- Tight-knit corporate culture with regular, casual executive access — CFO and senior leadership are engaged and present on the floor
- Strong bonus history and competitive compensation for the market
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare all domestic income tax compliance including federal (Form 1120) and multi-state returns using CorpTax
- Handle international tax filings including Forms 5471 and 8975
- Prepare quarterly state estimated tax payments and annual extensions
- Perform and document book-to-tax adjustments including M adjustments (depreciation/bonus depreciation, gain/loss, meals and entertainment, 163J)
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax provision process (ASC 740); prepare blended state rate calculations and NOL utilization forecasts
- Support U.S. and state tax audits including responding to information requests and coordinating across departments
- Ensure compliance with SOX Section 404 requirements
- Contribute to special projects including tax planning, automation initiatives, method changes, and transfer pricing analysis
- Assist with exemption certificate collection and sales and use tax research
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of income tax experience in public accounting or industry
- Corporate income tax focus required — federal 1120 compliance and M adjustment knowledge essential; 162M and R&D credit experience a plus
- CPA, Master's in Taxation, or actively working toward CPA
- Advanced Excel skills — must be able to build workbooks independently; Power BI or AI/automation tool exposure is a meaningful differentiator
- CorpTax experience preferred; proficiency with income tax compliance software required
- Must be willing and able to work 5 days per week in office
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
