You play a key role in ensuring that AI systems are developed and used in a compliant, transparent, and risk‑aware way, aligned with Bayer’s internal policies and evolving external regulations such as the EU AI Act.
Your Tasks And Responsibilities
AI Governance Support & Risk assessments
- Support AI risk assessments by performing defined data and model analyses (e.g., performance checks, bias indicators, basic robustness tests).
- Contribute to AI governance reviews by preparing data‑driven inputs for assessments, reports, and decision documents.
- Apply defined AI governance standards, guidelines, and methodologies.
- Perform data exploration, validation, and quality checks on datasets used in AI systems.
- Support model evaluation activities (e.g., accuracy metrics, stability checks) under guidance of senior team members.
- Assist in the execution of predefined monitoring activities for AI systems in development or production.
- Prepare and maintain governance‑relevant documentation to support Bayer´s obligation under applicable regulations (incl. EU AI Act), such as analysis summaries, model or data descriptions, and monitoring outputs.
- Ensure analyses and results are traceable, reproducible, and properly documented to support audits or inspections.
- Update repositories and tools used for AI governance documentation and evidence management.
- Demonstrate practical knowledge of data scientists tools and techniques
- Provide guidance on matching data sources with relevant applied mathematics and statistical techniques to meet analysis goals
- Support relevant stakeholder with guidance on ethical issues and how they fit into a wider context
- Stay up to date with developments in data ethics standards and legislations frameworks, such as the EU AI Act
- Identify ethical concerns in AI risk assessments
- Support the application of cybersecurity requirements to AI systems in line with internal policies and standards.
- Assist in implementing defined controls to protect data, models, and AI outputs from unauthorized access or misuse.
- Contribute to secure handling of sensitive data (e.g., health, personal, or confidential business data).
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and IT teams to address identified vulnerabilities or risks.
- Work closely with AI governance colleagues, data scientists, data engineers, and AI product teams.
- Support interactions with legal, compliance, data privacy, and risk management functions by providing analytical inputs (i.e. ITLM process / UNITE program).
- Escalate findings, issues, or uncertainties to senior roles as required.
- Education: Bachelor´s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or similar
- Skills/experience: minimum 3 years experience
- Strong academic background with coursework or research in machine learning, AI, statistical modeling and data analysis
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis and machine learning
- Familiarity with libraries and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, pandas, and NumPy
- Advanced knowledge of statistical methods and techniques
- Experience in hypothesis testing, regression analysis, clustering, and classification
- Expertise in machine learning algorithms and techniques
- Knowledge of secure data handling practices, including:data access control, handling of sensitive or personal datamdata classification requirements, data recovery
- Familiarity with secure development practices, such as:avoiding hard-coded credentialssafe use of external libraries and APIsversion control and traceability
- Basic knowledge of relevant security requirements in regulated environments
- Strong understanding of AI risk, ethics, and governance concepts
- Knowledge of AI regulations (e.g. EU AI Act).
- Ability to work across diverse teams and navigate ambiguity in evolving frameworks
- Proactive mindset with the ability to identify optimization opportunities and drive change
- Fluent in English language. German language beneficial
