Description

Spend one summer month in San Francisco helping teams of high school students (aged 13-17) launch the MVPs behind their startups (web apps, mobile apps, AI agents, landing pages).

Our students achieve real traction in days, and a solid MVP is what gets them there. We need a developer who uses AI to ship work — not a “prompt engineer” who hopes the model figures it out. You’ll teach teenagers the philosophy of proper planning (context, security, structure) instead of letting them throw vague prompts at the model and pray. The program runs on UC Berkeley’s campus, alongside a vetted mentor team of Shark Tank winners, Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees, Thiel Fellows, founders, CTOs, and TEDx speakers.

• The network. You’ll live and work alongside an unusually high-caliber group for a full month. The network outlasts the program.
• The flexibility. Most mentors keep working their normal jobs. You’re only “on” when you’re leading the room or running office hours; otherwise, step out for calls or focused work.
• The impact. ~40 students per cohort means every student remembers you for years.

Requirements

• Full-stack development experience. You’ve shipped real products, not just courses or tutorials.
• Heavy hands-on use of AI in your dev workflow (Lovable, Replit, Base44, Cursor, Claude Code). You can articulate why a prompt works.
• Security-conscious. You know how to handle API keys, environment variables, and auth so a teenager’s MVP doesn’t get hacked on day two.
• A track record of side projects and experiments — multiple shipped things, not one polished portfolio piece. The more random the side projects, the better.
• Comfortable with the full MVP stack: landing pages, web apps, third-party integrations (Stripe, auth providers, APIs).
• Availability and flexibility. This usually means your current job is remote with a flexible schedule.
• 100% written and spoken English communication. Fully bilingual, NOT professional or conversational.
• Comfortable with direct, honest feedback (it’s central to our culture).
• Open to come back next year. Our best mentors return.
• For international applicants: valid passport and US visa (B1/B2 or similar) required.
• BONUS: Experience teaching or mentoring developers, especially beginners or younger builders.
• BONUS: Mobile apps (React Native / Flutter / native).

Compensation & Logistics

• $3,000 USD program stipend for the month
• All-inclusive: round-trip flights from any city in the world to San Francisco, airport transfers, private UC Berkeley dorm, 3 meals/day, local transportation
• Dates: July 11 – August 8, 2026
• Schedule: weekdays on campus 9:30 AM – 4 PM with flexibility built in, Saturday morning group activities, rest of the weekend off

Growth Path

We’re building for the long term. Mentors who complete their first summer and want to return are invited to take on a larger role:

• 2027+: Lead a full week (or more) of activities at our second location as a senior facilitator.
• Can’t commit to a full month? After your first summer, you may be invited to join our on-call advisor network with paid 1:1 sessions.
