Senior Platform Engineer

Over one million Danes use Skatteguiden to understand and optimise their taxes. We automate tax tracking, surface deductions people didn't know they had, and give users the insight they need to make better financial decisions. All connected directly to the Danish tax authority. We're an independent company of around 50 people based in Copenhagen, with a 4.7-star rating and a simple mission: make financial insight accessible to everyone, not just those who can afford an accountant.

Our platform has grown with us. The infrastructure that keeps Skatteguiden running has reached a scale and complexity that deserves full-time, specialist ownership, and the work ahead makes this an unusually good time to join.

About the role

You'll be joining the Operational Platform team, the team responsible for everything that isn't the product itself: the infrastructure, the developer platform, and the systems that keep Skatteguiden running reliably at scale.

The team treats the platform as a product, with 13 engineers across 4 product teams as their users. They ship to production every day, and the platform is what makes that possible.

The work ahead is substantial. We're migrating from a bare-metal Kubernetes setup to Microsoft Azure, an opportunity to design and build production infrastructure from the ground up, with the architecture to match where we're going, not where we've been. It's rare to get that kind of scope with real scale behind it from day one.

What you'll do

  • Migrate our infrastructure to Microsoft Azure. We're moving from bare-metal Kubernetes to AKS, designing and building the entire new infrastructure as code from scratch using Terraform
  • Build and operate the production environment. Kubernetes cluster administration, upgrades, network policies, RBAC, and the systems that keep the platform stable and reliable
  • Integrate security into the platform. Work with our Head of Security & Privacy to translate security requirements into technical controls; security as a built-in property, not an afterthought
  • Improve the developer experience. Maintain and develop CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows (GitHub Actions + ArgoCD) so the path from code to production is fast, reliable, and transparent
  • Run the observability platform. Prometheus, Grafana Cloud, Alertmanager, Jaeger, and Sentry, making it effortless for teams to instrument their code without manual setup; and set up the on-call tooling that connects alerts to the right people
  • Enable engineers to use AI effectively. Identify, build, and maintain the tooling and infrastructure that puts AI assistance within reach of every engineer on the team; this includes sandboxed execution environments, MCP servers, and whatever the space demands next
  • Manage infrastructure costs. Clear visibility into cloud spend and a bias toward reducing waste without compromising reliability or developer experience

Who we're looking for

You're likely a senior platform, infrastructure, or site reliability engineer who's run production Kubernetes at scale and sees the platform not just as infrastructure to operate but as a product whose users are the engineers who ship Skatteguiden every day. If you've done parts of this and want to take on the breadth, we'd like to hear from you.

Must-have

  • Solid hands-on experience running and managing AKS in production, including Azure Networking, Azure Key Vault, and Entra Workload Identity
  • Broad Azure experience. You know your way around the platform. The services, how they connect, and how access and permissions work. The team will be the internal reference point for Azure architecture and design decisions, so a solid, broad understanding of what's possible and how to apply it matters
  • Working knowledge of Linux and networking. You're comfortable debugging at the system and network level
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, managing CI/CD pipelines, managing a production observability stack, and building internal tooling with software engineering discipline
  • Security, privacy, and compliance awareness. You design and implement with security, GDPR, and frameworks like ISO 27001 in mind, and you have hands-on experience applying controls across infrastructure, cloud environments, and developer tooling
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI. You use it daily and you're always looking for new ways to apply it

Nice-to-have

  • A "platform as a product" mindset. Experience thinking about developer experience as a product discipline, not just an operational concern
  • Prior experience planning and executing a hosting or infrastructure migration
  • Familiarity with our current stack: ArgoCD, Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry, and GitHub
  • Familiarity with Cloudflare, including DNS, CDN, WAF, DDoS protection, and Workers

Why join us

  • A substantial project from day one. The hosting migration means designing a production system from scratch, rare at any company.
  • Real influence. The architectural decisions made in this team will shape how Skatteguiden is built and operated for years. It's a small team with a high degree of autonomy, and the work is genuinely consequential.
  • Strong engineering culture. We take the technical foundations seriously. Security, architecture, and technical debt get real attention, not just lip service.
  • The product matters. Over one million Danes use Skatteguiden. Your work keeps it running and makes it possible to grow.
  • Solid company. We're independent, profitable, and growing. No VC pressure, no bloated roadmap. Just a clear mission and a team that cares.
  • A company that's serious about AI. We use AI across the business and we're only going deeper. Being a small, focused team means we can move fast on this, no lengthy approval chains, no slow rollouts. If you're always looking for ways to work smarter with AI, you'll fit right in.
  • Good people. We take the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously. The culture is professional, informal, and genuinely collaborative.

Practical details

Location: Copenhagen. We're an office-first company, and it's a deliberate choice. We're moving fast, we have big ambitions, and we genuinely believe that being physically together is one of the things that makes that possible. Things move quicker when you can turn your chair and talk to someone. We want to be upfront about this so you know what to expect.

And if we're asking people to be in the office, we want it to be worth their while. We're a five-minute walk from Rådhuspladsen, stocked with everything from fruit to fizzy drinks to afternoon snacks, and lunch is at Claus Meyer's canteen just across the street, proper food, not an afterthought. If you're putting in a long day, dinner is covered too.

Start: As soon as possible
