**Full Stack Engineer – Luxury Jewelry E-Commerce (Project-Based)**

XVIII KARATS is a Los Angeles-based luxury diamond jewelry brand offering both natural and lab-grown diamonds through a direct-to-consumer online model. Our clientele is high-end, our aesthetic is editorial, and our standards are exacting.

•The Opportunity •

We are bringing on a skilled full stack engineer to take over an existing codebase, assess what has been built, and bring the website to a polished, fully functional finish. This is a project-based role with potential for an ongoing relationship.

What You’ll Be Working With:

• Existing front-end built in React / Next.js

• Back-end code (Python-based) hosted on GitHub

• WordPress and WooCommerce integration and enhancements

• A luxury e-commerce platform requiring seamless front-to-back-end connection

Responsibilities

• Conduct a thorough code review of the existing front and back-end codebase

• Identify gaps, bugs, and integration issues

• Connect the front end to the back end via clean API architecture

• Enhance and optimize WordPress and WooCommerce components

• Implement luxury-grade e-commerce functionality (product pages, checkout, inventory, etc.)

• Ensure mobile responsiveness and performance optimization

• Contribute to UI/UX design refinements in collaboration with brand direction

• Optimize the back end for comprehensive SEO across all major search engines, browsers, and AI-powered search platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and emerging LLM-based discovery tools

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent) to accelerate front-end development and iteration

• Design and implement an AI-powered chatbot and virtual customer service experience to handle product questions, customer inquiries, and post-purchase support

• Bring the full website to a launch-ready state

You Are:

• A versatile full stack engineer comfortable in both front and back-end environments

• Experienced with Python, React/Next.js, WordPress, and WooCommerce

• Knowledgeable in modern SEO best practices including technical SEO, structured data, and LLM/AI search optimization

• Proficient with AI-assisted development workflows and tools

• Familiar with luxury, fashion, or jewelry e-commerce (strongly preferred)

• A self-starter who can inherit a codebase, understand it quickly, and execute

• Detail-oriented with a strong aesthetic sensibility

• Communicative and transparent, we expect regular updates and clear timelines

Requirements

• Portfolio that includes luxury, fashion, jewelry, or high-end e-commerce sites

• Hands-on production experience with WordPress and WooCommerce, including store configuration, customization, and integration with custom back-end systems

• Experience connecting WooCommerce to a Python-based back end via API

• Demonstrated SEO experience including technical optimization for search engines and AI platforms

• Experience building or integrating AI chatbots or virtual customer service tools (Agentic AI experience a strong plus)

• Familiarity with AI coding tools to accelerate development

• Ability to start with a paid code audit before the full project begins

• GitHub proficiency

• Available for regular check-ins (U.S. time zones preferred)
