Job Summary: Provides clinical patient care by initiating and administering appropriate treatment, progressing patient treatment as appropriate, and managing a patient load that reflects productivity standards. Evaluates patients accurately, plans appropriate treatment, sets and meets functional goals, and revises and progresses the treatment program as goals are met. Offers instruction to patients, family members, and other healthcare providers.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients and families. Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Basic computer knowledge for data input and reporting. Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Strong reasoning ability and adaptability.
  • Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
    • Provides clinical patient care by initiating and administering appropriate treatment, progressing patient treatment as necessary, and managing a patient load that reflects productivity standards.
    • Accurately evaluates patients, plans appropriate treatment, sets and meets functional goals, and revises and progresses treatment programs as goals are met.
    • Maintains accurate treatment records and completes daily patient charges. Completes patient records in a timely manner, accurately reflecting time spent, procedures performed, and equipment used.
    • Maintains technical expertise through continuing education activities, departmental in-services, and staying abreast of technical advances.
    • Provides instruction to patients, family members, and other healthcare providers, following care path guidelines for education and documentation of home programs.
    • Follows set guidelines for daily operations and assists the in-charge therapist with daily responsibilities as appropriate. Schedules and prioritizes daily work assignments and delegates tasks to RPTA or other support personnel as appropriate.
    • Assists with P.T. observers, volunteers, and students as requested by the in-charge therapist. Aids in the training of new P.T. employees.
  • Decision Making: Executes non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, following general instructions from a supervisor.
  • Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others without supervisory responsibilities. Leads others in similar work performed and provides input on performance evaluations. Works directly with patients and internal/external customers through telephone or face-to-face interactions. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff.

Education

  • Minimum Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
  • Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification: Valid state licensure or temporary authorization to practice Physical Therapy.
  • Work Experience: 0 - 6 months of related experience.
