Job Title: Staff Accountant


Company Overview: Vault Accounting is a rapidly growing organization seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. We are committed to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing insightful financial analysis to support our continued growth and operational excellence.


Position Summary: The Staff Accountant will be a key contributor to our accounting operations, responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and playing a crucial role in financial reporting and analysis. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to effectively communicate financial information to various stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice entry, vendor setup, payment processing, billing, and collections.
  • Perform accurate and timely monthly bank, credit card, and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, and depreciation.
  • Assist with comprehensive month-end and year-end close procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Review and prepare detailed financial statements (e.g., Profit & Loss, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements) and supporting schedules.
  • Support comprehensive financial reporting and analysis for management and various stakeholders.
  • Manage and reconcile inventory accounts, including cost tracking, valuation, and periodic adjustments.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Support external audits by preparing necessary documentation and schedules, and assist with tax preparation.
  • Maintain and monitor accounting systems to ensure proper documentation, data integrity, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies, streamline accounting processes, and support overall financial operations.
  • Present financial results, articulate key findings, and provide insightful analysis effectively in meetings with leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with other accounting functions and special projects as assigned.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; Associate's degree or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Experience with merchandise and inventory accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Appfolio, NetSuite, Dynamics 365, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including formulas, reconciliations, and dashboard creation).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to clearly articulate complex financial information and present results confidently in meetings.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proactive mindset with a desire to identify process improvements, enhance efficiency, and take on increasing responsibility.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.


Experience:

  • Proven experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting comprehensive financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience with inventory accounting, including tracking, valuation methods, and reconciliation processes.
  • Solid experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
