The Wisconsin Veterans Home in King (WVHK) is seeking multiple Custodians to join our housekeeping team. The Home is a 24/7/365 skilled nursing, long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. The facility is on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton. Come join our dedicated team!

Position Summary
Join the dedicated team that keeps clean and enjoyable living and recreation areas for Wisconsin veterans who call our facility home!
Custodians at WVHK are responsible for the timely completion of a variety of cleaning and sanitizing tasks in occupied and unoccupied patient rooms, common areas and offices, to maintain a homelike environment for the residents of our facility. Duties include but are not limited to washing, dusting, and mopping; cleaning toilets, showers, and furniture; floor care; operating automatic cleaning equipment such as scrubbers, sweepers, and carpet cleaning machines; replacing light bulbs; and performing limited grounds maintenance.

Salary Information
Starting wage is $16.67 per hour, with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
Sign-on bonus of $3000 for eligible new hires. $1500 will be paid in the employee's first paycheck and $1500 will be paid when the employee completes their original probationary period.
Custodian is in pay schedule-pay range 03-08.
Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Pay for current State employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.
Job Details
Custodians at WVHK work 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends. Employees must be available to work scheduled hours as needed, which may include overtime and holidays.
Work duties are performed on site.
Job duties require climbing, reaching and bending; performing sustained physical activity; performing heavy work, including occasionally exerting more than 100 pounds of force; operating loud, shaking and/or vibrating equipment; and working on ladders and/or scaffolding.
Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
The required qualification that will be reviewed in the first step of the process is experience performing paid or unpaid work.
In Addition To The Qualifications Reviewed In The First Step Of The Process, Qualifications That Will Be Reviewed In Next Steps Are Experience:
- cleaning and using cleaning products*; and
- following written and verbal instructions including work assignment changes*; and
- working cooperatively and communicating with others*; and
- following safety procedures and using personal protective equipment (PPE)* including while using chemical cleaning agents; and/or
- performing custodial tasks and using custodial equipment and tools; and/or
- following sanitizing procedures and using chemical sanitizing agents; and/or
- problem solving
