Principal AI Engineer

Job Overview

Plan A Technologies is looking for a Principal AI Engineer who can lead AI initiatives across the company while remaining hands-on in building production systems.

This role combines: AI architecture, production engineering, technical mentorship and cross-team leadership. The ideal candidate will design and deploy AI systems across client’s products while mentoring engineers and establishing best practices for AI development across the organization.

On this position, you will have the opportunity to help define how AI is used across products and platforms, and more:

• Build AI systems used by casinos globally.
• Mentor engineers across the company.
• Design next-generation analytics platforms.
• Influence the AI strategy of a growing technology company.

We are exploring modern AI technologies including:

• Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• AI agents and autonomous workflows.
• Multimodal AI (text, vision, and data analytics).
• Machine learning and predictive analytics.
• Real-time anomaly detection.
• AI copilots and conversational analytics.
• Production AI infrastructure and MLOps.

Please note: you must have at least 8+ years of software engineering experience and 4+ years building machine learning or AI systems to be considered for this role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

AI System Architecture & Development

• Design and build scalable AI systems integrated into our client's products.
• Develop machine learning, deep learning, and LLM-based applications.
• Build data pipelines and model deployment workflows for production AI systems.
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing analytics and operational platforms.

AI Product Innovation - Lead development of AI-powered features such as:

• Casino analytics copilots.
• Game performance prediction models.
• Player behavior analytics.
• Real-time anomaly detection for table games.
• Automated reporting and insight generation.
• AI-powered operational assistants for casino operators.

LLM and Agent-Based Systems - Design and implement modern AI architectures including:

• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
• AI copilots for operational analytics.
• AI agents that automate reporting and monitoring.
• Natural language interfaces for casino analytics platforms.

Cross-Team Leadership & Mentorship

• Serve as the AI subject matter expert across engineering teams.
• Mentor engineers on how to design and deploy AI-powered applications.
• Help teams integrate AI capabilities into existing products.
• Lead internal training sessions and workshops on AI development.

AI Infrastructure & Platform - Help establish the internal AI platform including:

• Model deployment pipelines.
• Experiment tracking.
• Model monitoring.
• Vector databases.
• Data pipelines for AI training and inference.

Data Strategy Collaboration - Work with product and data teams to:

• design datasets for machine learning.
• improve data pipelines.
• identify AI-driven product opportunities.

Experience

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years building machine learning or AI systems.
• Experience deploying AI systems into production environments.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Experience with several of the following: LLM APIs and frameworks, RAG architectures, machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.), vector databases, data pipelines and feature engineering, model evaluation and experimentation.
• Hand-on experience with AI / ML: Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Predictive Modeling and Anomaly Detection.
• Experience with Infrastructure: Docker, Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Model serving frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency with Data: SQL, Large-scale data processing and analytics platforms.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Teach engineers how to design and build AI-powered systems, help teams move from AI experimentation to production systems and Mentor engineers across product teams.
• Experience establishing AI engineering best practices.
