About the Role

We are a stealth-stage defense technology company building at the intersection of cybersecurity, open-source intelligence, and generative AI. Our platform transforms vast, unstructured digital environments into actionable intelligence for the operators who depend on it.

We are hiring a Backend Engineer to join the founding core team. You will build and own meaningful components of the backend that powers our OSINT engine — writing production services, hardening pipelines, and working alongside senior engineers to ship into elite cloud and sensitive on-premise environments.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, and maintain Python backend microservices that power the OSINT engine, with clear contracts and strong test coverage
  • Implement asynchronous workflows and contribute to ingestion and enrichment pipelines that move large volumes of unstructured data through AI-driven processing, including self-hosted LLM, diffusion, and audio models
  • Ship services into our Docker and Kubernetes-based deployment stack across cloud and on-premise environments
  • Write and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Git Actions, with careful attention to security, reproducibility, and rollback safety
  • Participate in code review, design discussion, and a light on-call rotation as the platform matures
  • Partner with senior engineers and AI engineers to integrate models and inference services into production paths

What We Are Looking For

  • 3–5 years of backend engineering experience (excluding military experience) delivering production systems
  • Strong Python proficiency — FastAPI, Pydantic, and Celery
  • Solid grasp of REST or other protocols such as gRPC or GraphQL API design
  • Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (GCP preferred; AWS or Azure also acceptable)
  • Proficiency with Redis as a cache and queue backend
  • Linux server fluency and comfort on the command line
  • Security-aware engineering habits: input validation, secrets handling, and least-privilege thinking
  • Strong written communication — the ability to produce a concise design document and articulate trade-offs

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to Go
  • Experience with Weaviate, Chroma, or Pinecone, and RAG-style pipelines
  • Self-hosted model serving via HuggingFace, or familiarity with diffusion-model tooling
  • Experience with Temporal or Apache Airflow
  • Proficiency with React and TypeScript for occasional full-stack contributions
  • Observability experience with Grafana, Loki, Promtail, or Prometheus
  • A background in defense, intelligence, national security, cyber operations, or a related regulated domain — through prior employment, academic work, or service in a technical military or government unit

What You Will Get

A founding-team seat with substantial ownership, direct mentorship from senior engineers solving genuinely difficult problems, and the opportunity to ship a product of real consequence in the global security landscape. We offer a competitive salary, meaningful equity, and the technical autonomy of an early-stage company.
