Role Summary
The Gen AI Engineer III is responsible for the delivery of end-to-end system development and maintenance on complex technology systems. This role focuses on developing medium to large complex customer technology platforms, specifically integrating Agentic AI engineering technology, prompt optimization, and model tuning.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain complex components of information systems using AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT).
- Integrate AI into workflows and delivery tools in partnership with Product Managers, Owners, and Engineers.
- Analyze, classify, and document complex change requests; define application scope and technical specifications.
- Perform model evaluation, quality measurement, and prompt optimization to improve AI output quality.
- Convert unstructured inputs into structured artifacts (requirements, specs, user stories, test cases) aligned with internal standards.
- Demonstrate knowledge of industry trends, responsible AI, data privacy, and secure handling of sensitive information.
- Mentor others on coding standards, perform code reviews, and support continuous improvement of production stability.
- Partner with QA to assess regression impact, support defect triage, and perform system testing and re-validation.
- Support operational readiness including logging, monitoring, troubleshooting, and on-call rotations.
- BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience on one platform, multi-database, multi-language, or multi-business application.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Domain Knowledge: US healthcare, payer, claims, clinical, HIPAA, PHI, regulated industries, or enterprise security.
- Methodology: Project experience with Agile project management and Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe).
- Software Engineering: Cloud-native development, APIs, microservices, CI/CD, automated testing, and secure SDLC.
- AI Specifics:
- Building or integrating AI agents, tool/function calling, RAG, memory, model routing, evaluations, guardrails, and observability.
- Experience with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore (Runtime, Memory, Identity, Gateway, Code Interpreter, Browser Tool, etc.).
- Building LLM or SLM applications and hardening AI-generated code.
- Communication: Strong ability to explain AI concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Tooling: Experience integrating AI into tools like JIRA.
- Production support experience.
