Data Engineer (f/m/d)
Indexed description
As a Data Engineer in IT Service Engineering, you are a core builder of Axpo's IT service data platform. You engineer the data pipelines, schemas, validation rules, and reconciliation flows that make CMDB, service, asset, identity, and cost data usable for automation and decision‑making. You think like a product engineer, treating data quality as a competitive advantage for the platform, not a downstream afterthought.
What you will do:
- Collaborate with IT Service Engineering, Finance, Security, and Business IT to understand ITSM, ITFM, and CMDB data requirements.
- Design and operate scalable data pipelines using Databricks, Python (PySpark), and SQL.
- Build reusable IT data products, such as service performance views and cost transparency datasets, to power automation, reporting, and AI.
- Implement data quality rules and reconciliation flows to ensure high-quality, reliable data.
- Support the cleanup and evolution of data schemas, including CMDB structures and relationships.
- Actively contribute to incident analysis, root-cause investigations, and continuous improvement of data pipelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering or similar technical roles.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, AWS Glue, or comparable platforms.
- Strong programming skills in Python (including PySpark) and solid knowledge of SQL.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (preferably Azure) and their data services.
- Product-oriented mindset with a focus on automation, decision-making, and AI applications.
- Fluent in English; Spanish and/or German is a plus.
