Senior Backend Engineer

Every car, wind turbine, medical device, and household appliance starts in a factory. We are partnered with a fast-growing startup that uses AI and computer vision to help manufacturers improve productivity, reduce inefficiencies, and make smarter operational decisions in real time. Backed by €15M in funding and already deployed across 20+ manufacturing sites, their platform processes thousands of live camera feeds for global industrial leaders, including Siemens, ABB, and Continental. As they scale from 40 to 70 employees, they're looking for engineers who want to build the future of industrial AI.

Role Overview

You'll join as a Backend Engineer, building and scaling the systems that transform AI-generated data into real-time business insights. You'll tackle high-volume data processing challenges, shape architecture decisions, and help prepare the platform for its next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and enhance scalable backend services and APIs
• Improve platform performance, reliability, and scalability
• Optimise databases and real-time data pipelines
• Collaborate with AI, product, and frontend teams
• Contribute to architecture and technical strategy
• Modernise legacy systems and reduce technical debt
• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve system stability

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience
• Strong Python development experience
• Experience with Django and/or FastAPI
• Strong REST API and PostgreSQL knowledge
• Experience building high-scale, real-time systems
• AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD experience
• Strong architecture, debugging, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable taking ownership in a startup or scale-up environment
