Duties And Responsibilities
Under the leadership of the Senior Manager, the Manager, Direct Marketing-Annual Giving will:
- Work with unit Directors and team members to create and activate a comprehensive annual donor solicitation, engagement and retention program;
- Support outsourced direct marketing contract including direct mail, email, and other digital fundraising components;
- Oversee engagement, solicitation, retention, and stewardship of recurring gift donors (Big Apple Partners) who sustain their support through monthly giving channels;
- Manage the communications and engagement of peer-to-peer fundraisers including “Give Your Birthday” and Virtual Food Drives;
- Develop and execute digital communication strategies across multiple platforms to elevate the Food Bank brand and drive fundraising success;
- Draft, edit and proofread copy, including emails and organizational newsletters;
- Collaborate with Marketing/Communications to secure appeal content and ensure direct mail and special fundraising vehicle communications are integrated and on-brand
- Work closely with Programs and Research Teams to make sure appeals have the most up-to-date impact stats and accurately describe our work;
- Track direct marketing responses and ensure efforts are mapped correctly to donor database;
- Maintain archive of all appeal creatives across channels and update with results at campaign completion for future comparatives;
- Increase and optimize engagement, monitor trends, and leverage multiple platforms to retain and gain support for Food Bank from key audiences;
- Keep abreast of direct marketing, communication and fundraising trends in order to continuously offer suggestions and ideas to help grow Food Bank’s donor base and keep current donors engaged;
- Respond to occasional inquiries from donors
- Support special engagement events
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience;
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working with direct mail and online fundraising;
- Professional experience in non-profit development preferred;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work as part of a team;
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge or comparable database;
- Ability to create persuasive copy with compelling narratives;
- Experience in digital media production and content creation a plus (Adobe Creative Cloud, video production, HTML & CSS, Content Management Systems, etc.);
- Resourceful, flexible, and a great problem-solver;
