Heavy Manufacturing | Procurement & Negotiation | ERP‑Driven Environment

A confidential heavy manufacturing organization is seeking a Plant Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities at the plant level, with responsibility for sourcing, negotiations, supplier performance, and cost control.

This role is ideal for a hands‑on procurement leader who understands the realities of plant operations, is comfortable working cross‑functionally, and can balance day‑to‑day purchasing with longer‑term strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Own plant‑level purchasing and procurement operations, supporting production, maintenance, and services
• Lead and execute supplier negotiations related to pricing, terms, delivery, and performance
• Partner with operations, maintenance, and finance to ensure materials and services are available when needed
• Leverage ERP systems to manage requisitions, purchase orders, reporting, and pricing accuracy
• Analyze spend and supplier performance using Excel‑based reporting and data analysis
• Identify and drive cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunities
• Act as a collaborative business partner while maintaining strong control, accountability, and follow‑through

What We’re Looking For

• Heavy manufacturing or industrial industry experience required
• Strong background in supplier negotiations and commercial decision‑making
• Working knowledge of an ERP system (Oracle, SAP, AS400, or similar) — understanding the system is key
• Advanced Excel skills, including:
• VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP
• Pivot tables
• Spend analysis and reporting
• Data‑driven presentations
• Self‑motivated, takes initiative, and thrives as a team player in a plant environment

Experience Guidelines

• 3+ years of experience as a Purchasing Manager, or
• 6+ years of buying experience within a heavy manufacturing environment, with clear ownership and progression

Preferred (Not Required)

• ISM / CPSM / CPM or APICS (Supply Chain) certification
• Exposure to formal strategic sourcing methodologies — candidates should be able to articulate how strategy was applied in practice

Work Schedule: On site

Compensation: $90-130k base
