Senior Backend .NET Developer

Contract Position with a Major Investment Firm

Location: Newark, NJ – Hybrid (3 days onsite: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday preferred)

Pay rate: Up to $70hr on w2 and $80hr on C2C

We are seeking a Senior Backend .NET Developer with strong experience building scalable backend applications and cloud-based services in AWS environments. This role is focused on backend development and requires deep expertise in C#, .NET Core, API development, and cloud infrastructure. Experience working in regulated or financial services environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain backend applications using C#, .NET Core, and ASP.NET Core
• Design, build, and support RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
• Deploy, manage, and optimize applications running on AWS EC2 environments
• Work with AWS services including S3, RDS, CloudWatch, IAM, and Load Balancers
• Collaborate with front-end developers integrating applications with React-based interfaces
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design sessions, and code reviews
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the application stack
• Ensure applications meet security, compliance, scalability, and performance standards
• Contribute to CI/CD automation and deployment processes

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend development experience
• Strong expertise with C#, .NET Core, and ASP.NET Core
• Strong understanding of backend architecture principles and design patterns
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications in AWS EC2 environments
• Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL
• Strong experience with Entity Framework Core
• Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in financial services or highly regulated environments
• Basic to intermediate React experience
• Experience with AWS ECS, EKS, or Lambda
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• Experience with event-driven architectures using SNS, SQS, or Kafka
• Experience with automated testing frameworks

Additional Information

• This is primarily a backend-focused engineering role
• React knowledge is beneficial but not required
• Candidates with experience building secure enterprise applications are highly preferred
• Strong collaboration and communication skills are important for working across cross-functional engineering teams
