ABOUT CENTRAL DERMATOLOGY CENTER

Central Dermatology Center is a 175-employee, multi-site dermatology practice serving patients across North Carolina. We combine the patient-first culture of an independent practice with the operating discipline of a sophisticated platform.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring a Controller to own our accounting, financial reporting, financial modeling, internal controls, and audit-readiness. This is a deliberately re-architected seat: payroll execution is outsourced, financial modeling is added, and the bar on technical fundamentals is high.

The right candidate is a CPA-grade accountant — 3 to 8 years of progressive experience — who has built their chops in a multi-site healthcare services platform or a Big 4 audit practice with healthcare-services depth.

This is a build seat. You will work directly with our CFO and COO to elevate our financial function while supporting the next chapter of our growth. The growth path is explicit: Controller now, with a clear runway into Director of Finance or broader finance leadership as the platform scales.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

• Month-end close, financial reporting, and the audit-ready close binder.

• Financial modeling: 13-week rolling cash flow, EBITDA bridges, working capital schedules, scenario analysis.

• Internal controls and audit-readiness. Quarterly controls-testing sweep.

• Multi-entity / intercompany accounting and consolidations.

• Accounts payable, expense management, and approval workflows on Ramp.

• Provider compensation calculations across three concurrent bonus programs.

• Recurring management reporting: location-level P&L, A/R aging, line-of-business dashboards.

• 401(k) plan audit ownership with our external auditor via Suralink.

• Daily clinic cash-close controls and exception management.

• Payroll oversight (executed by outsourced bureau): vendor relationship, batch approval, anomaly review, tax-filing sign-off.

• Lease and TICAM administration across multiple locations.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

• CPA earned, or actively in progress with a defined exam timeline.

• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years at Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accountant accountability.

• Direct experience in a multi-site healthcare services platform — MSO, DSO, veterinary, dermatology, ASC, or comparable — or Big 4 audit with healthcare-services clients.

• Advanced Excel: financial modeling fluency, Power Query and Power Pivot a strong plus. Will be evaluated in a live work sample.

• Hands-on QuickBooks Online or Enterprise with multi-entity / intercompany experience.

• Demonstrated track record of building SOPs, designing internal controls, and producing audit-ready work.

• Clear written and verbal communication.

STRONG PREFERREDS

• ERISA 401(k) plan audit workflow exposure (Suralink or comparable PBC platform).

• Power BI or Tableau implementation experience.

• Experience with Ramp, Bill.com, or a comparable AI-forward AP / spend platform.

• Experience leading a system implementation or migration to completion.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING

• Base salary: commensurate with experience.

• Target annual bonus: tied to budget, close timeliness, audit-readiness metrics, and modeling deliverables.

• Comprehensive benefits: medical (Cigna), dental, vision, FSA, HSA, 401(k).

• Direct report to CEO

• Explicit growth path into broader finance leadership as the platform scales.

• Hybrid arrangement based at our Chapel Hill / Raleigh-Durham headquarters. Heavy in-office presence during the first 90 days, transitioning to approximately one week per month in-office in steady state, with additional in-office time around close and audit windows.

HOW TO APPLY

Submit your resume plus a brief cover letter (one page or less) addressing two questions:

• Describe the most complex financial model you have personally built and what it produced.

• Describe an internal control you designed in response to a specific gap or error.

Shortlisted candidates will complete a CFO-led technical screen, a behavioral interview with leadership, a 60-minute live Excel work sample, and a final panel incl COO, and an external advisor.
