Fully Remote - Associate Attorney (Municipal Ct., Entry Level)

Pay: $80,000 / year to start,

About the Role

Cohen & Bernstein is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our growing New Jersey practice. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a newly licensed or early-career attorney looking to gain hands-on experience in traffic, criminal defense, DUI, expungement, and name change law.

We provide paid training to help you build confidence in court and develop strong foundational legal skills. You’ll gain real courtroom exposure quickly while working in a supportive, fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

• Represent clients in court for traffic, criminal, and DUI matters (3–5 in-person appearances per week in NJ courts)
• Attend and manage 10–15 virtual court appearances weekly
• Handle expungement and name change cases from start to finish
• Draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents
• Communicate with clients via phone and email
• Manage case files and assist with filings
• Maintain strong attention to detail across all legal work

Work Structure

• Fully remote work environment (must reside in New Jersey)
• Combination of virtual and in-person court responsibilities throughout NJ
• Weekly calendar provided with all scheduled court appearances and obligations

What We’re Looking For

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active New Jersey bar admission required
• Must be a New Jersey resident
• Prior office or legal experience required
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable balancing remote work with frequent court appearances (both virtual and in-person)
• Excellent communication and client service skills
• Willingness to learn and grow in multiple areas of law

Work Schedule

• Typically a 9-hour workday, with flexibility depending on court schedules
