Job Description
ATS is seeking a detail-orientated Operator of Unmanned Systems (UxS) or Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV) to join our team in supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Panama City Division. We are growing fast and are looking for Multiple Technical Experts for the laboratory’s Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) support.
To be successful as an UxS/UUV operator, you should demonstrate a sound understanding of operating underwater vehicles and supporting field operations in maritime environments. Candidates with prior sonar operator experience will be given preference. They should have the ability to perform multiple roles and be responsible for assembling, integrating, testing, maintaining, and repairing the unmanned mechanical systems and equipment. Candidates will be required to travel in support of UxS/UUV testing and evaluation events. Operators will collaborate closely with government scientists, engineers, and project staff to ensure all systems remain reliable, safe, mission-ready, and maintained to standard.
UxS/UUV Operator Responsibilities
- Operation and support of UxS/UUV test events.
- Functional checkout and post operational checks.
- Minor maintenance and integration of UxS/UUV components.
- Verification, inspection, and mounting of payloads and sealing modules.
- Performance of prechecks and functional testing with engineers.
- Assist in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
- Support during field tests, demos, and official events.
- Maintain supporting documentation and configuration records.
- Work alongside engineers to design, build, and test solutions to a variety of technical problems.
- Attend conferences and participate in other learning and growth opportunities.

Qualifications
- Three to Five (3 to 5) years of relevant experience is required
- Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
