Role Overview

The organization is seeking a Vice President of Sales to lead the business through its next phase of growth and professionalization. This executive will have full responsibility for sales performance across business development, account management, sales operations, and customer experience.


The company operates within a fragmented, opportunity-rich market and offers a combination of project-based services, product sales, rentals, and recurring service contracts. The Vice President of Sales will play a critical role in developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy while building a disciplined, scalable sales organization aligned with operational realities.


This individual will partner closely with executive leadership and the board to execute the company’s organic growth strategy and support integration efforts related to strategic acquisitions.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of sales and account management professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and performance.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop additional sales resources to support growth.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, KPIs, and incentive structures aligned with company objectives.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews.
  • Lead sales integration efforts related to acquisitions, including team alignment, pricing discipline, CRM adoption, and cross-selling initiatives.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure alignment between sales, estimating, operations, and project delivery.

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies by customer segment and sales channel.
  • Drive growth in both new business development and expansion of existing customer relationships.
  • Identify and grow recurring revenue opportunities, including service agreements, maintenance contracts, rentals, and lifecycle selling initiatives.
  • Own sales performance, accountability, and results, adjusting strategy, pricing, and resource allocation as needed.
  • Establish bid strategy, pursuit selection frameworks, and pricing discipline in collaboration with estimating and operations.
  • Implement disciplined sales forecasting, pipeline management, and reporting.

Metrics & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain KPIs to measure sales effectiveness, pipeline health, and forecast accuracy.
  • Implement and leverage CRM systems and sales analytics tools to manage leads, opportunities, and customer relationships.
  • Report regularly on sales performance, pipeline status, and revenue outlook to executive leadership and the board.
  • Contribute to annual budgeting and revenue forecasting in partnership with finance.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key commercial, industrial, and public-sector customers.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through effective account management and issue resolution.
  • Represent the company with professionalism and credibility in the marketplace.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Work closely with operations, estimating, marketing, and finance to align sales efforts with company objectives.
  • Provide insights on market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to inform strategy and service development.

Marketing & Demand Generation

  • Oversee marketing strategy and execution in support of sales growth and pipeline development.
  • Ensure marketing materials, website content, case studies, and qualification packages support sales pursuits.
  • Manage external marketing vendors and agencies as needed.

Leadership Scope & Reporting

  • Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
  • Direct Reports: Sales, business development, and estimating personnel
  • Key Interfaces: Operations, Finance, Estimating, Project Management, Marketing

Key Metrics & Success Factors

  • Revenue growth and sales target attainment
  • Growth of recurring revenue and mix of recurring vs. project-based revenue
  • Gross margin improvement and customer profitability
  • Pipeline development, conversion rates, and forecast accuracy
  • CRM adoption and sales process compliance
  • Customer retention and satisfaction
  • Expansion into new markets and/or service offerings
  • Sales team performance, retention, and leadership development


Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, including senior-level leadership (Director or VP).
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling sales organizations in growth-oriented or investor-backed environments.
  • Background in specialty construction, building services, industrial services, or related sectors.
  • Proven ability to manage complex sales cycles, including public-sector and large commercial customers.
  • Experience selling both project-based work and recurring service or maintenance agreements.
  • Strong proficiency with CRM systems and modern sales analytics tools.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA a plus.
