Senior Frontend Engineer (M/F)
Indexed description
Private Equity is the last frontier of finance still running on Excel and fragmented processes. At Roundtable, we are building the infrastructure that allows thousands of investors to co-invest with surgical precision.
You’ll join a 10-engineer senior full-stack team organized in 2 squads, and you’ll be part of opening a third one. You’ll work closely with 2 product managers and be directly supported by our CTO and CPO, both founders.
Your MissionYou won’t be one frontend engineer among many. You’ll be the front-end expert, the person who sets the standard, owns the architecture, and shapes how we build.
Design System Ownership: Own and evolve our token-based design system: components, accessibility, theming, documentation. You set the direction and raise the bar for the whole team.
React & Next.js Engineering: Define the right patterns for RSC, caching, state management, and performance. Opinionated, pragmatic, and built to last.
Performance & Real-Time Interfaces: You’re the guardian of frontend performance, Web Vitals, bundle size, rendering strategies. You’ll build high-performance investor dashboards with real-time data, and make sure speed is never an afterthought.
Product Thinking: You don’t just implement specs, you engage with the product logic behind them. You ask why, spot inconsistencies early, and help shape what gets built, not just how.
Integration Automation: Explore and experiment with LLM-assisted workflows to eliminate repetitive integration work, and redirect that effort toward higher-value engineering.
Design Collaboration: Work directly with our freelance designers. Translate Figma into pixel-perfect components, and push back when something won’t scale.
End-to-End Initiative: At Roundtable, we encourage engineers to follow problems wherever they lead. If you spot something worth improving in the backend, logic, API layers, data flow, you’re welcome to dig in. Ownership matters more than boundaries.
Core: Next.js (App Router) with React Server Components, 100% TypeScript (strict mode, no any).
Styling: Tailwind CSS with custom design tokens, Shadcn/Radix/Base UI for accessible, composable components.
API & Communication: Migrating from GraphQL (Apollo Client) to tRPC with Zod for end-to-end type safety.
Quality: Vitest, Playwright, Storybook, Zod
Observability: Datadog (browser + server), PostHog.
Experience: 5+ years building frontend TypeScript applications. React and Next.js hold no secrets for you. You’ve owned or co-owned a design system at scale.
Frontend Craft & Precision: You think in systems, not screens. You have grounded opinions on rendering, state management, accessibility, and performance, and you know how to bring the team with you. In fintech, a UI bug isn’t just a visual glitch, it’s a financial consequence. You care about correctness as much as aesthetics.
Design System Mindset: You know what a token-based design system looks like in practice. You’ve built or evolved one, and you understand why it matters at scale.
Pragmatic Architecture: We don’t follow a named architecture style. We structure our code around business logic, clear entry points, explicit boundaries, readable by anyone on the team. We care about code that makes sense, not code that follows a manifesto.
Automation Appetite: You see LLMs as an engineering lever, not a gadget. You know where to insert them in a workflow to save real time without sacrificing quality.
Ownership: Every engineer at Roundtable owns their work end-to-end, from product scoping to production. You’ll write features, debug in prod, talk to PMs and designers.
Domain Curiosity: A background in finance or fintech is a plus, but not a requirement. Private equity has its own logic and vocabulary, we’ll teach you the domain. What matters is that you’re genuinely curious about how it works.
High-Growth Environment: Ranked #14 in the Sifted 250, Europe’s fastest-growing startups by revenue. Today: €500M+ in assets under administration, 25,000+ investors, and 450+ investment clubs across 100+ nationalities.
Tech Excellence: A culture that values quality over quick fixes. We invest in a type-safe, well-structured codebase and modern developer experience because good engineering compounds over time.
AI-Augmented Engineering: AI is embedded in how we work, from development workflows to product features. It makes us faster. But ownership stays human: every engineer understands, owns, and stands behind every line that goes to production. AI is a tool, not a crutch.
Hybrid Work: Beautiful offices in Paris or Toulouse. 2 to 3 days remote per week.
Ambitious Peers: Work with a high-caliber team driven by excellence and continuous learning.
Compensation: Competitive salary (75–90K) + Employee Stock Options Plan.
Health & Well-being: Alan insurance (50% covered) and Swile restaurant card (€10/day).
Time Off: 25 days of holidays + RTT.
Sustainable Commute: €600/year “Forfait Mobilité Douce” for eco-friendly transportation.
Gear: High-end MacBook as your standard working tool.
