- Monitor project budgets, expenditures, forecasts, ensuring alignment given funding
- Track actual costs vs. budget and ensure accurate financial visibility
- Support the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with EU funding rules and financial guidelines
- Manage accounting records for project accounts (e.g., CRHIM)
- Perform balance reconciliations, transaction verification, and bookkeeping oversight
- Ensure accuracy and alignment with internal financial controls and policies
- Support the development and revision of project budgets
- Assist in implementing cost reallocations, amendments, and adjustments as needed
- Work closely with project managers to align financial planning with project execution
- Take ownership of administrative processes related to project financial management
- Coordinate across teams to ensure smooth financial and operational workflows
- Support audit preparation, incl. collection & organization of supporting documentation
- Ensure readiness for financial reviews and audits
- Assist in audits & ensuring ongoing compliance with funding requirements
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or financial administration
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, reconciliation and financial reporting
- EU citizen or work permit to work in Spain
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Excel and financial systems
- Fluency in English (Spanish is a plus)
- Ability to work autonomously, high organisation capacity and team working attitude with a proven ability to prioritise a varied workload and meet tight deadlines
- Proactive, flexible and problem-solving attitude, openness to learning
- Willingness/desire to work in international and multicultural context
- Experience working with European-funded projects (e.g., Horizon Europe, EIT Health, IHI etc)
- Familiarity with grant financial rules and reporting requirements
- Experience in academic, research, or international environments
