The Role

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will join the Payroll Experience team, responsible for making Personio Payroll feel effortless, intuitive and delightful for our customers.
This team owns the product surface and workflows that payroll managers rely on every day. Surfacing the right data in front of users at the right time - from payroll tasks, status views and flexible data exploration tools. The teams work impacts customer satisfaction directly by ensuring payroll feels transparent, in control, and stress-free.
You'll work across frontend and backend systems to deliver features that thousands of customers depend on every payroll cycle.
What You’ll Do
- Build full stack features that make payroll management intuitive and transparent for customers
- Design and implement backend services that surface the right data at the right moment
- Build flexible data views that allow customers to slice and dice payroll data to fit their needs
- Develop payroll task management tools that keep users in control of every step of the payroll process
- Improve the usability and clarity of payroll workflows, reducing friction and building customer confidence
- Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to craft experiences that delight users
- Ensure high performance and reliability across all customer-facing payroll features
- Contribute to architectural decisions that shape the future of the payroll product experience
- Strong experience as a Full Stack Engineer
- Experience working across frontend and backend systems
- Backend experience with languages such as Kotlin, Java, Node.js, or similar
- Experience building modern frontend applications (React or similar frameworks)
- Ability to deliver user-facing features end-to-end
- Strong collaboration skills with product and design teams
- Experience building customer-facing SaaS products
- Experience working with complex workflows or data-heavy interfaces
This role requires 2 days per week in the Munich office. The remaining days can be worked from home, plus 20 Flex Days per year to work remotely from other locations.
