They are a venture-backed company working closely with major academic healthcare partners. Their systems are already handling high volumes of patient interactions and are scaling quickly.

About the role

As a Staff Full-Stack Engineer, you will set the technical direction for the core applications that power clinical operations. You will lead architecture across three foundational systems: a real-time operational dashboard for monitoring agent activity, an analytics platform for natural language exploration of healthcare data, and a no-code environment for configuring agent behavior.

This role carries significant ownership. You will define engineering standards, design systems for reliability and scale, and build software that handles sensitive clinical data. Correctness, security, and uptime are essential. You will mentor other engineers, shape technical culture, and help maintain a high-performance engineering organization as the team grows.

What you’ll do

• Lead architecture and system design across the company’s core operational platforms
• Establish standards for code quality, testing, observability, and incident response
• Design real-time infrastructure for monitoring conversations, escalation workflows, and audit trails
• Define technical approaches for natural language access to structured healthcare data
• Architect no-code tools that enable non-technical users to configure AI behaviors
• Design APIs, data models, and caching layers supporting streaming, voice, and multi-channel communication
• Own authentication, authorization, and audit systems aligned with healthcare compliance needs
• Evaluate build-versus-buy decisions and major platform tradeoffs
• Mentor engineers and create reusable patterns that elevate team-wide engineering quality
• Collaborate with AI engineers, clinicians, and customers to translate complex workflows into software
• Maintain shared component libraries, design systems, and development infrastructure

What we’re looking for

• 7+ years of production full-stack engineering experience at high-performing organizations
• Expert-level React and TypeScript skills with deep knowledge of performance and state management
• Strong experience building Python backend services and scalable APIs
• Proven ability to design and operate large-scale production systems
• Deep understanding of real-time architectures such as WebSockets and event-driven systems
• Experience with relational databases, data modeling, query optimization, and caching
• Track record of setting engineering standards and mentoring teammates
• Extremely high bar for reliability, testing, and operational excellence
• Ability to ship quickly while proactively managing risk and failure modes
• Strong product judgment and ability to translate ambiguous needs into robust systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication across technical and executive audiences

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries
• Background in voice or real-time communication infrastructure
• Experience building no-code or developer tooling platforms
• History of helping scale engineering organizations
• Familiarity with accessibility requirements in clinical software
• Mobile development experience
