Director of Business Development - Automotive and Truck AccessoriesRole Summary

The Director of Business Development leads growth strategy, partnership development, and market expansion for a company in the automotive and truck accessory industry. The role focuses on identifying new revenue opportunities, building strategic relationships, and strengthening the companys position across OEM, aftermarket, fleet, e-commerce, and retail channels.

Key ResponsibilitiesMarket and Growth Strategy
  • Develop and execute a multi-year growth strategy across OEM, aftermarket, fleet, and retail channels.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer insights to identify new product and partnership opportunities.
  • Build business cases for new markets, product categories, and channel expansions.
Partnership and Channel Development
  • Lead relationship development with OEMs, dealerships, upfitters, distributors, and key retail partners.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing structures, and long-term supply or private label partnerships.
  • Expand the companys presence in national and regional retail chains, e-commerce platforms, and specialty accessory shops.
Revenue and Pipeline Management
  • Own the business development pipeline from lead generation through deal closure.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Marketing teams to align revenue targets and go-to-market plans.
  • Track performance metrics, forecast revenue, and report progress to executive leadership.
Product and Innovation Collaboration
  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering to identify accessory trends, customer needs, and emerging technologies.
  • Provide market feedback to guide product roadmaps, pricing strategies, and feature prioritization.
  • Support product launches with channel strategy, positioning, and partner enablement.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Lead cross-departmental initiatives that support growth, including channel programs, promotional strategies, and operational improvements.
  • Mentor and develop business development managers or regional growth leads.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and partner meetings.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or sales leadership.
  • Strong background in automotive, truck accessories, aftermarket parts, or related mobility sectors.
  • Proven track record of securing OEM, fleet, or major retail partnerships.
  • Deep understanding of automotive distribution channels, accessory product categories, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and executive-level relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial models, market data, and competitive landscapes.
  • Willingness to travel for partner meetings, trade shows, and field visits.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with upfitters, restylers, or specialty accessory installers.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce growth strategies and digital retail channels.
  • Background in product development or technical automotive knowledge.
