Chief of Staff (Stealth AI Startup)
San Francisco, CA | Hybrid
Salary - $Competitive + Equity
The Mission
Our client is building the next generation of emotionally intelligent AI. Founded by a seasoned entrepreneur and joined by co-founder Tony Robbins, the company is creating technology designed to help people better understand themselves, improve mental wellbeing, and navigate life with greater clarity and purpose.
This is not a "wrapper" built on existing foundation models. With over 1.5 years of proprietary training data and unusual distribution advantages across government, B2B, and consumer channels, the company is positioned as a category leader in AI therapy—an industry they believe is inevitable to solve the global mental health crisis.
The company has raised $14.3M to date and is coming out of stealth on May 20, 2026, with significant momentum toward a major summer fundraising round at a potential $1B valuation.
The Opportunity
Our client is looking for a Chief of Staff to work directly alongside the CEO, helping drive company execution during a critical period of growth. This is a strategic operating position—a "force multiplier"—designed for a senior leader who can act as an extension of the CEO across company priorities, execution, operations, and external initiatives.
This is not an administrative or developmental role. The CEO is seeking a seasoned operator who can challenge ideas, drive signature-ready terms on complex contracts, and maintain the operational backbone of a company scaling rapidly.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Strategic Leverage: Meaningfully reduce the CEO's decision and execution load without reducing output quality or speed.
- Fundraising & Investor Relations: Own the operational backbone of the summer raise, including the data room, investor CRM, and CEO-caliber written materials.
- High-Stakes Partnerships: Drive a pipeline of partnership and enterprise contracts from late-stage negotiation to signature.
- Government & Regulatory Affairs: Map and maintain relationships with federal and state stakeholders (HHS, CMS, VA) and navigate the regulatory landscape (FDA, HIPAA).
- Stakeholder Management: Own the relationship cadence for the board, investors, and high-profile partners to ensure the CEO never walks in "cold".
- Operating Rhythm: Run the leadership cadence—agendas, pre-reads, decision logs, and follow-ups—to ensure commitments close.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven Experience: Prior experience as a Chief of Staff or executive-level leader, ideally within a venture-backed startup in healthcare, AI, or a high-growth environment.
- Strategic Peer Judgment: Ability to pressure-test decisions, offer dissenting views, and hold the line when right.
- Commercial & Deal Experience: Strong strategic thinking with the ability to personally negotiate and close partnership or enterprise contracts.
- Expertise in Growth or Regulation: A background in B2B growth, government relations, or regulatory affairs is highly preferred.
- Exceptional Communication: Ability to produce investor updates, board memos, and partnership materials that read as if written by the CEO.
- Execution in Ambiguity: Ability to operate autonomously; given a vague directive, you return with a plan and a recommendation.
Why Join Them?
- Impact: Meaningful ownership and influence inside a rapidly growing, mission-driven startup.
- Compensation: Competitive salary (calibrated to experience, approximately $200k range) and equity package.
- Benefits: 95% company-covered Health, Dental, Vision, and Disability insurance.
- Time Off: Unlimited PTO, paid US holidays, plus your birthday, the day after Thanksgiving, and New Year’s Eve.
- The Environment: A new office in Union Square opening shortly, with a hybrid model (Tuesday–Thursday in-office) that prioritizes speed and productivity.
