All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Efficiently take beverage orders and prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with department specifications.
- Provide an elevated experience to all guests, proactively seek guest service opportunities, and has excellent interpersonal skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Practices characteristics of wine and champagne by the glass, major wines, liquor brands, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, designated glassware, terminology, and garnishes.
- Maintain complete knowledge of menu items, liquor brands, wines, and beers and non-alcoholic selections available.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment.
- Know and execute the steps of service guidelines with extreme attention to detail.
- Properly communicates with fellow Team Members to ensure service standards are being met.
- Monitors inventory, ensures bar is always stocked, and works as a team to make certain bar is maintained.
- Adheres to The Venetian guest service standards and applies them consistently in daily interactions.
- Develops expertise in the Venetian Rewards program to provide guests with clear and helpful information.
- Be familiar with The Venetian Beverage Training Manual and consistently adhere to its standards.
- Provides beverages in all outlets including casino service wells, casino front bar lounges, theater bars, In Suite Dining hospitality events, Prestige lounge bars, and more.
- Handles food service in specific bar outlets.
- Effectively drives initiatives to meet financial goals by recognizing opportunities to increase sales.
- Communicates with the management team to ensure all bar equipment is properly functioning.
- Process payments using a cash register or POS system, including handling cash, credit cards, suite charges, comps, and tips. Maintains accurate records of sales and guest transactions.
- Works in an appropriate non-hazardous manner avoiding self-injury and unsafe work methods.
- Provides accurate directions and information for guests and is knowledgeable about all aspects of The Venetian Resort’s services, features, attractions, promotions, and special events.
- Consistently maintain a professional, well-groomed appearance, posture, and hygiene in accordance with company standards.
- Food Safety is an essential function of this job. Maintain bar area in compliance with all OSHA regulations, SNHD standards, and company policies to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Perform any additional duties assigned to support operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years of age.
- Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card, Non-gaming card, Health card and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
- Must have a craft card issued through the Bartenders Union.
- Five (5) years high-volume experience as a bartender. Experience in a hotel casino environment preferred.
- Candidates must possess excellent customer service skills.
- Confidence working in a guest facing role in an upscale resort.
- Must possess a general understanding of specialty drinks, wine, and fine spirits.
- Understand how to operate the POS system. Manages all transactions (including but not limited to suite charges, cash, credit card, comps) accurately and efficiently.
- Must be able to demonstrate superior customer service skills by presenting a friendly, relaxed and professional demeanor, ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail while meeting business demands.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
- Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
- Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
- Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
- Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
- Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
