Essential Job Functions
- Provide academic coaching services to students in compliance with policies and procedures set forth by STARS and CRLA.
- Coach new and existing Academic Coaches to abide by the policies and procedures of Student Tutoring and Retention (STAR) Services and the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA).
- Conduct routine evaluations of coaches during the semester to provide feedback and support, and a full formal evaluation at the end of the semester.
- Submit all applicable reports and required documentation in a timely, accurate manner
- Attend proscribed professional development sessions and training to keep up to date with research based best practices.
- Deliver presentations on various academic skills and strategies to student organizations across campus as needed.
- Promote student awareness of all programs/services offered.
- Participate in outreach and tabling events.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold FERPA requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Academic Support.
At least a year working with student support services.
Must be available for pre-semester training and regular staff meetings.
Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
Capacity and desire to work with students of diverse backgrounds.
Highly dependable, punctual, and adaptable.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong academic skills, behaviors, and habits that can be modeled for students.
Ability to clearly explain information in multiple ways.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Supplemental Information
Physical Requirements
Visual acuity to read written or printed text on screens or paper.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and/or through writing.
Manual dexterity for writing, typing, and reaching.
Ability to move safely to and from various buildings across campus.
Ability to lift and move objects no heavier than 10 pounds.
Job Conditions
Work is indoors and sedentary.
Schedule is subject to change according to worker availability and department need.
