Indexed description
Company Description
Plaskimia, a French deeptech company, is revolutionizing organic synthesis through innovation in AI, continuous flow chemistry, and plasma technology. With an emphasis on sustainability, Plaskimia develops safer, energy-efficient synthetic processes that reduce carbon footprints while optimizing the production of high-value molecules for industries such as pharmaceuticals, flavors, and advanced materials. The company’s patented plasma reactors and AI-driven Plasma Flow platform enable chemical transformations under environmentally friendly conditions, facilitating scalable industrial solutions from proof-of-concept to pilot production. Partnering with European industry leaders, Plaskimia is at the forefront of sustainable chemical processes, driving the reindustrialization of European chemistry.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Paris for a Prototyping & Scale-Up Engineer specializing in Continuous Flow Plasma. The key responsibilities include designing, prototyping, and testing innovative equipment for plasma-based continuous flow chemical processes. You will transform laboratory flow-plasma prototypes into robust, replicable industrial platforms. You will define fluidic and thermal architectures, and contribute to the design and construction of reactor skids with our partners. You will increase automation and experimental throughput in close collaboration with our AI/automation team, then design, size, and oversee continuous-flow plasma pilot plants, from pre‑industrial units to multi‑ton‑per‑year capacities. You will also lead robustness and qualification campaigns, prepare transfer packages for industrial partners, and manage scale-up projects, ensuring safety and reliability across the whole value chain.
Qualifications
- Experience in Prototyping and Research and Development (R&D) processes
- Degree in general engineering, process/chemical engineering, fluid mechanics/thermal engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in continuous processes, scale-up and/or pilot operations (fine chemicals, pharma, flow reactors, bioprocesses or equivalent), including lab-to-pilot or lab-to-plant transfer.
- Strong command of continuous flow fundamentals (mass/energy balances, flow regimes, residence time, pressure drop, heat transfer) and process equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, instrumentation, control/automation systems).
- Hands-on experience with pilot or lab automation (PLC/SCADA, sequences, sensors, alarms); exposure to data/AI for processes (DoE, experimental databases, Bayesian optimization interest) is a strong plus.
- Engineer‑entrepreneur mindset, autonomy, rigor, and ease working in fast-moving, multidisciplinary environments with chemists, plasma physicists, data scientists, mechanical and automation engineers.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in French and English.
What we offer
- A central role in setting up the first continuous-flow industrial plasma pilots, at the heart of transforming a laboratory technology into an industrial platform.
- A cutting-edge scientific and technical environment combining chemistry, process engineering, microfluidics, plasma physics, automation, and AI.
- An experienced, demanding, and supportive founding team, and the opportunity to contribute to strategic decisions regarding scale-up and industrialization.
- Position based in the Paris region with flexible working arrangements.
- Salary: 45-65k depending on experience
