Flint Urban Safety and Health Corps (FUSHC) AmeriCorps members assist residents with long-term recovery from the water crisis. Members serve at a variety of nonprofits throughout the community and, through their host sites, provide direct service in key areas of recovery. These areas are: 1. Food security and nutrition; 2. Behavioral and developmental health; 3. Early education; 4. Medical management; 5. Blight elimination and community engagement. FUSHC members will engage in activities designed to increase access to early childhood health and education services, community engagement, and neighborhood revitalization, and may be responsible for planning and executing both small and large-scale events that support and further program goals. Additionally, FUSHC members meet on a monthly basis for professional development, networking, and training, and collaborative projects between host sites and members is encouraged.

Member Duties : Members who serve with the Flint Urban Safety and Health Corps (FUSHC) provide direct service to support the long-term recovery of residents and the community from the water crisis. Members serve at a variety of organizations so day-to-day activities vary between host sites, but all FUSHC members will connect residents to resources and educate the community on topics related to water crisis recovery. Duties can also include organizing cleanups of vacant properties, assisting neighborhood organizations with blight removal activities, connecting families with early childhood education and health programs, and coordinating workshops on health and wellness.
