Vice President, Biology (Shanghai, China-based position)

Position Overview

The Head of Biology / VP Biology will lead biological discovery strategy at Perpetual Medicines and build the internal biology organization. This role will oversee target biology, assay development, mechanism-of-action studies, and translational biology supporting our peptide therapeutic discovery programs. Please note that this position is based in Shanghai, China.

Key Responsibilities

Discovery Biology Leadership

• Define biological strategy across oncology, autoimmune, and metabolic disease programs

• Guide target validation and mechanistic studies

• Lead development of biochemical and cellular assay systems

Program Leadership

• Lead discovery programs from target validation through candidate nomination

• Integrate biology with computational design and peptide chemistry

Team Building

• Recruit and build a high-quality internal biology team

• Mentor scientists and establish core experimental capabilities

External Partnerships

• Oversee CRO-based biology and pharmacology studies

• Ensure experimental rigor and data quality

Qualifications

Required

• PhD in biology, pharmacology, immunology, biochemistry, or related field

• 10+ years drug discovery experience

• Track record advancing programs toward clinical development

Preferred

• Experience with peptide therapeutics or biologics

• Expertise in oncology, immunology, or metabolic disease biology

• Experience integrating computational approaches with experimental biology

Language Requirements

• Mandarin strongly preferred

• Professional English required
