ABOUT THE ROLE

We work at the intersection of mission design, flight dynamics, and systems engineering for commercial and institutional space missions. You will support our customers in defining missions, designing spacecraft architectures, and making the technical decisions that hold a programe together.

You will work closely with our flight dynamics team and bring the broader systems perspective that connects orbit design to spacecraft design to operations planning. The role spans customer-facing engineering services and internal product development.

This role grows into technical authority for customer programes as the portfolio expands.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • System architecture definition and trade studies for satellite missions
  • Requirements derivation, management, and verification across subsystems
  • Coordination across propulsion, AOCS, power, thermal, and communications
  • Technical support to customers at design reviews and key programe milestones
  • System-level documentation and proposal writing
  • Bringing the systems engineering perspective to LEIA's product development

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Mid-level candidate, 3–5 years of experience in space systems engineering or similarly complex engineering domains.

  • Experience from space systems development preferably on mission level
  • M.Sc. or PhD in aerospace engineering, physics, or equivalent
  • Understanding of the full mission lifecycle from concept through to operations
  • Familiarity with ECSS or similar standards
  • Ability to work across disciplines and communicate technical trade-offs clearly to non-specialists
  • Solid grounding in at least one spacecraft subsystem area — AOCS preferred

USEFUL BUT NOT REQUIRED

  • Experience with GEO telecommunications or electric propulsion missions
  • Background in AOCS, propulsion, or power subsystem design
  • Experience writing proposals for ESA or national space agencies
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools

REQUIREMENTS

  • Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus
  • EU or EES citizen

ABOUT VINTERSTELLAR

Vinterstellar is a Stockholm-based aerospace company doing mission analysis and flight dynamics for satellite operators and space agencies — from GEO telecommunications to Earth observation to deep-space trajectory design. Founded in 2018, we are five people and growing, with multiple funded development projects running and a product evolving into a decision-oriented mission analysis platform for the European market.

At Vinterstellar you will have real ownership from day one. Together we work hybrid and have a lot of freedom when it comes to structuring our time and the way we want to work.
