We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially aware Accountant / Office Manager to join a fast-paced retail environment in Dubai. This role will be responsible for managing end-to-end accounting operations, overseeing daily financial transactions, and supporting office administration.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in retail or FMCG environments, with exposure to high-volume transactions, inventory accounting, and multi-store operations, along with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
- Perform daily sales and POS reconciliation (cash, card, online payments, returns, and discounts)
- Oversee inventory accounting, including FIFO / weighted average costing, stock reconciliation, and shrinkage monitoring
- Handle accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing and collections follow-up
- Prepare and manage monthly closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Support preparation of financial statements, including P&L and margin analysis by product/category
- Monitor and analyze costs, margins, and financial performance across stores
Tax & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations, including:
- VAT return preparation and submission
- Supporting audits and maintaining proper documentation
- Managing import VAT and related filings
Reporting & Systems
- Maintain accurate financial records within ERP systems (experience with Sage X3 is a strong advantage)
- Prepare regular management reports and dashboards using advanced Excel
- Identify discrepancies and provide actionable insights to improve financial performance
Office Management & Administration
- Oversee day-to-day office operations and administrative activities
- Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders
- Support basic HR and administrative functions where required
- Ensure smooth communication between finance, operations, and store teams
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with retail operations, store teams, and supply chain to ensure accurate reporting and stock control
- Support business decision-making through financial insights and analysis
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional certification (CPA, CMA, ACCA) is highly preferred
- 3–7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in retail, FMCG, or distribution sectors
- Strong understanding of:
- Inventory accounting (FIFO, weighted average, reconciliation)
- POS and daily sales reconciliation
- High-volume transaction environments
- Solid knowledge of UAE VAT law and compliance requirements
- Experience with:
- Monthly closing and financial reporting
- P&L and margin analysis
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Sage X3 is a plus)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving abilities
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
