Junior Data Analyst

Location: Chennai, India

Function: Data Analytics & Insights – Centre of Excellence (CoE)

Role Summary

As a Junior Data Analyst, you will be a core member of the Centre of Excellence (CoE) team—driving business intelligence across revenue, demand signals, customer behavior, and product performance. This is a high-impact role where your insights will shape decision-making in marketing, merchandising, demand planning, and finance across D2C, B2B, and Q-commerce platforms.

Unlike operational reporting roles, this position is geared toward front-end performance analytics—providing insights that steer business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Focus Area

Data Preparation & Governance

  • Pull and harmonize data from Shopify, marketplaces, quick-commerce portals, CRM, and ERP systems.
  • Run automated validation scripts to ensure data accuracy before pushing data to dashboards.

Business Dashboards

  • Build and maintain self-serve dashboards in Power BI / Tableau covering GMV, AOV, channel mix, fill rates, contribution margins, and promo ROI.
  • Deliver weekly scorecards for category managers and senior leadership.

Insighting & Storytelling

  • Identify trends in SKU performance, promo uplift, geographic splits, and sales velocity.
  • Translate complex analysis into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.

Forecast & Scenario Support

  • Support the Excellence Manager in demand forecasting that feeds into S&OP processes.
  • Build "what-if" models to evaluate pricing, discounting, and product launch scenarios.

Process Automation

  • Collaborate with the Data Engineering team to transition recurring reports from Excel to automated SQL/ETL workflows.
  • Maintain documentation for data definitions and KPIs to ensure a single source of truth.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Engineering, Business Analytics, Economics, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in data analysis with a focus on revenue / commercial insights (preferred industries: FMCG, D2C, or Retail).
  • Proficiency in SQL and Excel; hands-on experience with at least one BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, or Looker).
  • Sound understanding of e-commerce KPIs like AOV, conversion rates, retention cohorts, and promo uplift.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex data into business-friendly narratives.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Exposure to Python for statistical modelling.
  • Familiarity with commerce platforms like Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, Blinkit, Instamart, etc.
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses like BigQuery, Redshift, or Snowflake.
