Supervisor Imaging Job Responsibilities
- Schedules and monitors staffing levels to efficiently manage daily workflow and optimize throughput.
- Oversees procedure protocol compliance in collaboration with supervising Radiologists.
- Reviews billing reports daily and assists with charge denial management to maximize reimbursement.
- Monitors supply usage and inventory while maintaining budget expectations.
- Collaborates with Radiology Management to ensure accurate patient coding and resolve scheduling issues.
- Maintains communication with modality staff regarding equipment, service, supply, and staffing concerns.
- Coordinates patient care across multiple radiology modalities and exams.
- Evaluates technical quality and modality performance, implementing improvements as needed.
- Leads quality assurance initiatives and coordinates equipment maintenance and service support.
- Maintains accreditation documentation and troubleshoots imaging equipment issues.
- Initiates and communicates protocol updates to staff.
- Assists with capital equipment planning, staff interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
- Serves as a role model by following departmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Provides compassionate patient care while addressing physical and psychological needs.
- Applies ALARA principles and supports routine, complex, trauma, surgical, and immobile patient procedures.
- Acts as a technical resource for imaging protocols, equipment operation, and PACS procedures.
- Assists leadership with staff performance evaluations and departmental support functions.
- Ensures exam rooms remain clean, stocked, and operationally ready.
- Verifies physician orders, confirms patient identity, and gathers patient history prior to procedures.
- Accurately enters exam information, charges, and documentation into RIS/PACS systems.
- Ensures images and related documents are properly uploaded and available for interpretation.
- Completes additional duties and special projects to support departmental effectiveness and professional competency.
Required Qualifications
- The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an associate degree or Certificate in Radiologic Technology ARRT, (R).
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of job-related experience is required.
- Management experience is preferred even if unrelated to healthcare experience.
- Technical expertise in Diagnostic Imaging is a must to lead the staff to optimum performance.
- Developed excellence in patient care is another important and desired quality.
