General Job Summary
This position plays a key role in ensuring equal access to the educational opportunities for a student with a disability by providing accommodation support and assistance within the classroom environment. This position will join a team of individuals focused on advocacy, service and support of students with disabilities. The Reader/Scribe will work independently under the supervision of Accommodation Services to provide one on one support to a student in the classroom. The ideal individual has well-developed verbal skills and vocabulary, is a strong oral reader with a good command of the English language.
The typical work schedule for this position is Monday - Thursday 8:30 - 10:30 AM. This position is a direct student support position and hours are subject to change with student's schedule.

- Read class content directly to student
- Record answers that are verbally dictated by student
- Provide 1 on 1 support to a student in the classroom
- Read assignments or tasks accurately to the student
- Only read the instructions of the tasks at hand and must not explain or clarify questions
- Describe visual elements of class content
- May repeat the instructions of an assignment but only if the student requests to do so
- May be asked to reread
- Write accurately, and at a reasonable speed
- Write a correction if requested to do so
- Refer any problems in communication
- Must not give the answer to the student or lead a student to an answer
- At the student’s request, repeat what has been recorded
- May be asked to record notes, either handwritten or typed.

- You possess a working knowledge of personal computer and have the ability to learn database software related to working with student data, institutional data, and communication.
- You aspire to work with people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as cultivate an environment that values differences.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Well-developed verbal and writing skills
- Strong oral reader with a good command of the English language
- Experience with individuals with disabilities
