About Nett Technologies
Nett Technologies Inc. is a Canadian manufacturer of engine emission control and exhaust after-treatment systems. We design and manufacture solutions for diesel, gasoline, LPG, and natural gas engines used in a wide range of industrial, off-road, power generation, and transportation applications.
We are looking for a Junior Mechanical Designer to join our design and engineering team in Mississauga. This is a hands-on entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys mechanical design, manufacturing, problem-solving, and learning how products move from concept to production.
This role is well suited for a recent graduate or early-career candidate with strong CAD skills, practical mechanical aptitude, and an interest in designing real products that are manufactured and used in demanding engine and industrial applications.
What You Will Do
As a Junior Mechanical Designer, you will support the design and development of engine exhaust and emission-control products. Your work will involve both computer-aided design and practical collaboration with manufacturing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Create and update 3D models, assemblies, and production drawings using SolidWorks
- Assist with the design of exhaust after-treatment products, silencers, brackets, housings, and related components
- Prepare and revise manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, and design documentation
- Support design improvements based on feedback from production, quality, sales, and customer requirements
- Help maintain and improve the design library for commonly used parts and standard components
- Work with manufacturing personnel to resolve design, fit-up, fabrication, and assembly questions
- Review drawings for dimensions, tolerances, manufacturability, and consistency.
- Learn how design decisions affect fabrication, welding, assembly, cost, quality, and product performance
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is curious, practical, detail-oriented, and willing to learn. You do not need to know everything on day one, but you should be comfortable asking questions, checking your work, and improving through feedback.
Required qualifications:
- Diploma, degree, or certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, CAD/CAM, or a related field
- 0–2 years of related experience; co-op, internship, school projects, or hands-on technical projects are welcome
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
- Ability to read and prepare mechanical drawings
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, welding, machining, or fabrication
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow drawing standards
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Practical mechanical aptitude and interest in how parts are actually built
Nice to Have
The following are assets, but not mandatory:
- Experience with SolidWorks drawings, assemblies, sheet metal, weldments, or design tables
- Exposure to GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, or manufacturing drawing standards
- Experience in a fabrication, welding, machining, automotive, engine, or industrial manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with internal combustion engines, exhaust systems, emissions systems, silencers, DPF, DOC, or SCR products
- Hands-on experience from school teams, personal projects, repair work, shop work, or technical hobbies
What You Will Learn
This position offers the opportunity to develop practical design skills in a real manufacturing environment. You will gain exposure to:
- Product design from concept to production
- Exhaust and emission-control system design
- Manufacturing-focused mechanical design
- Drawing standards, bills of materials, and design documentation
- Collaboration between design, production, sales, purchasing, and quality
- Practical problem-solving in a Canadian manufacturing company
Why Join Nett
At Nett Technologies, you will work close to the product, the people building it, and the customers using it. This is not a purely theoretical design role. You will see how your drawings and design decisions affect real manufactured products.
This role is a good fit for someone who wants to build a strong foundation in mechanical design while learning from experienced technical and manufacturing professionals.
