POSITION: INVESTMENT ANALYST

LM Asset Management Inc. (“LM”) is a performance-driven boutique investment firm based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, managing approximately CAD $400 million in assets. The firm is on a strong growth trajectory, driven by disciplined execution and focused investment approach. We pursue a deep value, contrarian strategy seeking differentiated and misperceived opportunities across the capital structure with a focus on special situations that are otherwise avoided by typical market participants. We seek to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns, while maintaining the highest ethical standards.

LM currently manages, among other vehicles, the LM Asset Fund (the “Fund”), a long-biased, contrarian, deep value hedge fund with a high-conviction concentrated portfolio of opportunistic investments primarily in the US and Canada. As of March 31, 2026, the Fund has generated a 32% annualized net return and a 1,009% cumulative net return since inception in July 2017.

We are seeking an exceptional and thoughtful investment analyst to join our investment team. The analyst will work closely with the Portfolio Manager and the senior investment analyst. This individual will participate in all aspects of the investment process and the firm’s business. Primary responsibilities will be performing fundamental research across broad range of businesses in varied sectors and capital structures, with the goal of evaluating, identifying, and championing ideas that could be added to the portfolio.

LM is an entrepreneurial firm. This is an opportunity to join a firm at an exciting stage of growth. Every team member is valued and meaningfully contributes to the business. If you have conviction in your abilities and are looking for a meritocratic environment, we encourage you to apply. For the right candidate, there is potential to progress to partner or senior roles within the organization.

If your background does not align with the requirements of this role, we encourage exceptional candidates who believe they can add meaningful value to our organization to reach out. If you have a differentiated skill set, perspective, or experience that you believe would enhance broader firm capabilities, we invite you to submit a general letter of interest along with your CV outlining how you would contribute to our firm to [email protected].

The successful candidate will have:

  • 1 to 5 years of buy side or sell side experience at an investment bank, private equity firm, hedge fund, or other related experience
  • Excellent understanding of securities analysis, accounting, valuation methods, qualitative and quantitative techniques
  • Proficiency in financial statement analysis and financial modelling
  • Experience in any combination of investment strategies
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a small, close-knit team
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Advanced computer skills and strong attention to detail
  • CFA charterholder (or progress towards) and/or MBA is viewed favourably, but not necessary

Responsibilities:

  • Source, evaluate, analyze, and pitch ideas to Portfolio Manager
  • Monitor, update, review, and continually assess existing portfolio ideas
  • Creatively research a broad range of investment and business ideas, sectors, topics, and themes
  • Identify drivers of fundamental value and stock prices
  • Develop skills through working alongside other members of the investment team
  • Attend industry events and interact with sell-side research analysts and sales professionals
  • Participate in all aspects of the asset manager business with the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and ethics

Who should apply and other details:

We’re looking for a high energy, intellectually curious team member. The candidate should be a dependable, natural problem-solver with unique perspectives, superior analytical skills, and the interest to work alongside a small, tight-knit, high performing, and collegial team. This person should be interested in expanding his or her skillset and willing to approach any project with the attitude to succeed.

This position is an in-office role and based in Vancouver, British Columbia. For the right candidate, there is flexibility to facilitate a move to the city. The position’s annual base salary range is $100,000 to $200,000, with discretionary bonus compensation.

The posted salary range reflects varying levels of experience, from emerging professionals to those with many years of relevant experience. While the range represents the potential salary for the role, it is not typical for new hires to start at the top of the range. Salary and total compensation (whether it is ultimately within or beyond the range) is based on qualifications, experience, and alignment with the role and the skills that an individual might bring. We offer highly competitive total compensation depending on the impact and results of individual performance, skillset, and experience.

For consideration, please include your CV and cover letter outlining your qualifications and interest in the role to [email protected]. Finalists are asked to complete a short technical assignment as part of the interview process.

We thank all prospective applicants for applying but only candidates of interest will be contacted.
