Job Summary
The primary function of the Account Specialist position is to support the maintenance and growth of the Company's business within assigned customer accounts. In this role, the Account Specialist will develop technical knowledge of water treatment programs while working alongside experienced water treatment professionals and learning through hands-on training and mentorship. As their knowledge and experience grows, the Account Specialist will increasingly partner with customers to recommend solutions, support account growth, and contribute to new sales efforts, with the potential to progress into an Account Manager role.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Serve existing customer base and grow territory with the help of the leadership team
- Develop account management responsibilities as a territory is developed
- Interact with site personnel in various departments to sell and support Company's water treatment products and services for boiler, cooling, RO, process, and drinking water systems at numerous customer locations in a number of industries
- Work onsite at customer locations to provide routine, day-to-day service to determine water treatment program is operating within optimal ranges
- Assist with chemical feed systems
- Participate in delivery, installation, commissioning and repair of systems at customer sites
- Develop the ability to manage and place orders, track inventory and usage of product at each customer site and serve as the general face of the Company to assigned customer base
- Deliver value to customer base by participating and aiding in routine service and business reviews, as clear and consistent communication with customers is a key component of the Company's culture
- Project professional image of the Company through a positive and helpful attitude and punctual and reliable attendance at all times
- Develop professional and technical knowledge in order to provide sound water treatment recommendations to customers; continuously strive for professional improvement by taking advantage of the Company's continuous online training and mentorship opportunities
- Local travel is expected and ongoing, including approximately 5% of travel outside of assigned region, which will involve overnight stays
- Keep vehicle in good operating condition and keep up with recommended maintenance as needed
- Participate in customer-facing seminars
- Participate in quarterly team meetings
- Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Technical/analytical aptitude
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team and exhibit leadership skills
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn and possess knowledge of Company product portfolio and application uses
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to learn new operating systems
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) or equivalent skills
- Valid driver's license and willingness to abide by Company standards for operating motor vehicle
- Be able to physically provide service at customer facilities within a wide range of environments
- Must attend Company's required safety trainings
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Past experience in technical sales and/or service in industrial water treatment or specialty chemical industry
