Compensation: The base annual salary range for this full-time role is between $71,000 to $97,600. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside of this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to a candidate's qualifications including relevant education and training, competencies, experience, geographic location, and business needs. Base pay is only one part of the total compensation package. Full time roles are eligible for equity and benefits. Base pay is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
DescriptionAt Photonic our Accounting Specialist is the transactional foundation of our growing finance team. This role owns the accuracy and cleanliness of financial data entering the accounting system — ensuring business activity is recorded correctly, on time, and in accordance with company procedures. The right candidate takes pride in precision, handles high-volume work without losing attention to detail, and understands that clean transactional data is what makes everything above it work.WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO
Transactional Processing
- Full-cycle accounts payable processing — invoice receipt, coding, approval workflow management, and vendor payments; including PO reconciliation and three-way match verification where applicable
- Employee expense report processing, policy compliance review, and reimbursement coordination
- Routine bank postings, recurring journal entries, and transactional payroll postings
- Credit card transaction coding and reconciliation
- Complete assigned month-end close tasks including recurring journal entries, prepaid and accrual support schedules, bank reconciliation preparation, and transactional documentation — ensuring all deliverables are accurate, on time, and audit-ready
- Flag data anomalies, coding issues, or unprocessed transactions for resolution prior to close
- Maintain clean vendor master data, coding accuracy, and transaction documentation standards
- Identify and escalate process gaps or recurring transactional issues that create downstream rework
- BCom or diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field — or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of accounts payable, bookkeeping, or transactional accounting experience, with demonstrated ownership of AP processes in a multi-entity or high-volume environment
- Proficiency with ERP or accounting software; NetSuite or similar preferred
- High attention to detail, high-volume processing accuracy, and strong deadline orientation
- CPA pursuit enrolled or planned - actively supported by the company and considered a strong asset
- Experience in a technology company or high-growth environment in Canada
- Exposure to expense management tools such as Float, Concur, or similar
- Familiarity with PO-based purchasing workflows or inventory-adjacent transaction environments
- Demonstrated experience using AI-enabled productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot or similar) to support reconciliation, documentation, and process improvement, with sound judgment around confidentiality and data quality
