To support this mission, OSIT has embarked on a multi-year modernization journey, within which the Sr. DevOps Engineer will play a key role: designing, developing, and maintaining Optum Serve's automated build and release structure and deployment pipeline. This will span from code compilation and automated testing to deploying releases to multiple environments.
The Sr. DevOps Engineer is responsible for maturing the DevOps mindset within agile teams using techniques such as Acceptance Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery to provide quality products with seamless integration across Development, Quality Assurance, Infrastructure, Operations, and Release Management roles within LHI.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support a learning organization model through coaching, training, and mentorship
- Adapt as necessary for unintended consequences of this change initiative and one that understands the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team
- Work in a DevOps team environment on both tactical and strategic assignments
- Handle manual work while figuring out how to automate it
- Take a project from inception to production and lead a team of variant applications to successful automated deployments
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of IT experience on web-based products
- 4+ years of experience with Kubernetes deployment tools like ArgoCD and Flux
- 4+ years of experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform
- 4+ years of experience with Azure, GitHub, and Gitlab
- 4+ years of experience with DevOps teams, Agile methodologies and Test-Driven Development
- Experience leveraging AI tools in the software development lifecycle to improve quality and efficiency
- Advanced knowledge of container architectures (Docker, Kubernetes)

- United States Citizenship
- 4+ years of experience with at least 1 scripting language such as Groovy, Perl, Python, or Powershell
- 4+ years of experience working on large scale, multiple team projects
- 4+ years of experience with programmatic interaction with a relational database, preferably a recent version of SQL Server
- Experience working in a NIST or FedRamp compliant environment
- Advanced experience in at least 1 high level programming language such as C, C#, C, or Java
- Advanced experience with modern source control systems (ie. Git)
- Solid understanding of database technologies Mysql, MSSQL, Oracle) with database change automation experience
- Infrastructure as code experience with some programming background either as a release engineer or developer
- Solid track record of learning new tools and technologies
- Proven self-starter and willing to take on new responsibilities that have not been clearly defined
