Founding CTO @Weavii

About Weavii

Weavii is building the operating infrastructure of the artistic economy, a unified platform connecting emerging visual and performance artists with entertainment producers, businesses, and brands.

The artistic industry is large, fragmented, and largely undigitized. The tools and workflows needed to support professional artistic collaboration simply don't exist in one place. Weavii is changing that: combining a professional network for the industry's stakeholders with structured project management, collaboration tools, and the end-to-end infrastructure the industry has been missing.

We are an early-stage company with a live product, active pilot projects, and a growing network of strategic partners. We are backed by EU funding and a team of advisors with deep experience across technology and the creative industries. We are at the moment where the foundation is being laid, and the decisions made now will define everything that follows.

The role

We are looking for a Founding CTO to take full ownership of Weavii's technical direction: architecture, delivery, roadmap, and the engineering organization we will build together over time.

You will think like a builder and a business partner simultaneously. You will write code, ship features, and sit in user research sessions. You will challenge assumptions, make architectural bets that compound over time, and help define what to build and why. Ownership here is real and complete.

The right person for this role finds the complexity of the artistic market genuinely exciting: a problem worth solving, not a constraint to work around.

What you will do

  • Own the technical roadmap and align it with product strategy and business priorities. Be proactive, flag risks early, and bring informed technical perspective into decisions before being asked.
  • Make architecture decisions that are pragmatic and forward-thinking: clean enough to scale, lean enough to ship. Know when to compromise and how to plan for future adjustment.
  • Ship into production, consistently. Write clean, well-tested, well-refactored code and get it in front of users as fast as possible. Iteration speed is a competitive advantage at this stage.
  • Participate in user research, market analysis, and product experimentation. Bring technical judgment into early-stage decisions and care about what users actually need.
  • Research and integrate AI meaningfully. Understand how it can create genuine value for the artistic ecosystem, in discovery, collaboration workflows, and new business opportunities.
  • When the time comes, contribute to hiring decisions, technical culture, and how Weavii shows up as an engineering organization.

What we are looking for

We are not looking for someone who checks every box. We are looking for someone who recognizes themselves in most of this and is honest about where they want to grow.

Mindset

  • Entrepreneurial and ownership-driven. You think like a founder: focused on outcomes, not outputs. Previous entrepreneurial experience is a meaningful plus.
  • Product-oriented and user-curious. You ask "why are we building this?" before "how?" You care about what creates real value, not just what is technically elegant.
  • Startup-native. You operate well with limited information, make sound decisions under uncertainty, and move fast without losing judgment.
  • Deeply curious about AI. You actively explore how it can be applied to real problems and have a clear-eyed view of where it creates genuine value and where it does not.
  • Collaborative and constructive. You bring confidence and conviction to technical discussions, welcome direct feedback, and navigate disagreement with maturity. The goal is always the best outcome.
  • Systems thinker. You see how decisions connect, how things will evolve, and how product architecture mirrors business architecture.
  • Data-oriented. You treat data as infrastructure: instrumentation, measurement, and visibility from the start. The ability to co-design a solid data architecture is a significant advantage.
  • Direct communicator. You translate complex trade-offs clearly and bring technical reality into business conversations without friction.

Experience and skills

  • Proven track record building and shipping software products end-to-end. Side projects, startups, and open source all count.
  • Strong system design and architecture skills. You can design for scale without over-engineering for a stage you have not reached yet.
  • Solid experience with cloud-native architectures and serverless patterns, particularly on AWS.
  • Hands-on experience implementing AI features in production environments, including LLM integrations, automation pipelines, agentic systems, or AI-assisted workflows.
  • Comfortable making consequential technical decisions in ambiguous environments where process is earned, not given.
  • A genuine interest in the cultural and creative industries is an advantage.

Tech stack

Core

  • Backend: TypeScript, AWS Amplify, DynamoDB, Lambda, AppSync / GraphQL
  • Frontend: Next.js, Tailwind CSS, TypeScript
  • Infrastructure: AWS (S3, CloudFront, Cognito)

Nice to have

  • Golang, Neo4j

We use AI coding tools as part of our development workflow. We expect you to use them too, and to know exactly what they are producing: how to read it critically, spot mistakes, debug issues, and make deliberate improvements. Fluency with AI tooling is an asset; dependency on it without understanding is not.

Location

We are based in Berlin and value in-person collaboration, especially at this stage. Berlin-based candidates are strongly preferred. We are open to remote for the right profile.

Compensation

This is an equity-only role at the current stage. Weavii is an active business with a live product, pilot clients, and a clear path toward our next funding milestone. A competitive salary will be introduced as the business scales, and that is a commitment we take seriously.

What we are offering in the interim is a meaningful equity stake, structured to be competitive for a company at our stage and reflective of the seniority and partnership this role requires. Equity details will be discussed openly during the process.

This role is probably not for you if...

You need a fully defined spec to get started. You prefer to stay close to code and delegate product and strategy conversations. You are looking for an established team, mature processes, and a salary from day one. Or you are not energized by working in a market that requires patience, curiosity, and a willingness to find order in complexity.
