Assistant Controller | Austin, TX (Hybrid)
A global investment management firm is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its growing Austin-based finance team. This is a highly visible role supporting a complex and evolving business across private equity, credit, BDCs, and insurance-related operations.
The team is looking for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment where accounting intersects with operations, business partnership, and process improvement. This is not a narrow, task-based accounting role. The position offers broad exposure across the organization and the opportunity to help support a finance function that continues to scale.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities
- Prepare and review reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting support
- Partner with FP&A, compliance, fund controllers, and operational stakeholders across global offices
- Assist with intercompany and chargeback accounting processes
- Help improve workflows, reporting processes, and operational efficiency
- Participate in systems enhancements and finance process improvement initiatives
- Support a fast-growing and evolving business across multiple investment platforms
- Work closely with senior finance leadership on ad hoc projects and business initiatives
What They’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred
- Approximately 4–7 years of experience within Big 4 public accounting and/or relevant industry experience
- Financial services, private equity, asset management, credit, or alternative investment exposure is highly preferred
- Strong accounting foundation and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner across teams
- Naturally curious mindset with interest in understanding how the broader business operates
- Comfortable operating in an environment where roles, processes, and priorities continue to evolve as the business scales
- Interest in improving processes and using technology to create more efficient workflows

Compensation
- Target base salary range: $115K–$130K
