Who We Are

Founded in 2013, City Football Group is the world’s leading private owner and operator of football clubs, with teams across the globe connected by a shared belief in doing things differently. Alongside our clubs, we invest in football-related businesses and build partnerships that help the game, and the communities around it, thrive. Everything we do is guided by our purpose: empowering better lives through football.

Within our Finance team, we play a critical role in ensuring robust financial governance, delivering accurate reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making across a complex and evolving global organisation.

The Role

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement across finance processes. You will work closely with the Head of Group Accounting and a range of internal and external stakeholders to support statutory reporting, audit processes and regulatory submissions.

You will take ownership of key reporting cycles, including month-end, year-end and audit, while also contributing to forecasting and budgeting activities. In addition, you will help strengthen financial controls, enhance processes, and support the organisation in navigating an increasingly complex regulatory environment, including UEFA, Premier League and emerging IFR requirements.

This is a highly visible role offering both technical depth and the opportunity to influence decision-making across the business.

What You'll Bring

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with post-qualification experience

• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and financial reporting standards

• Experience preparing statutory financial statements and technical accounting papers

• Proven experience coordinating external audits and managing audit deliverables

• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and challenge

• Experience within sports, media or entertainment, or audit and knowledge of football financial regulations would be advantageous.

You’ll also have access to a Health Cash Plan, Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 GP support, and a competitive pension and life assurance.

You can enjoy a range of additional benefits, including cycle to work, Give As You Earn, discounted match tickets, savings in the City Store, a free City+ subscription, stadium tour discounts, and wider retail and lifestyle offers.
